How old are you, where do you train and how does it feel to win a state title?

Callie
I'm 25 years old and I workout at the best gym ever, my own private studio! The same place that we train our clients. And I have an awesome trainer too. Winning a state title was alot of fun. I worked really hard this year and it just feels good to know that my efforts payed off.

Marunde-Muscle
Let me guess. Jesse trains you right?

Callie
Of course! He's hard on me sometimes, but I love the results!

Marunde-Muscle
How long have you been working out?

Callie
I have always sought fitness. When I was in high school I would do the exercise programs on television. After the programs became too easy I found Titans gym in Mentor Ohio. I began to weight train and teach aerobics when I was 18.

I began competing in figure and bodybuilding when I was 20. At the time I never thought that my love for exercise would have brought me a fulfilling carrier as a personal trainer.

Marunde-Muscle
How long did you take to prepare for the Washington State Bodybuilding, Figure, and Fitness Championships?

Callie
After I won the Cleveland Bodybuilding Night of Champions in 2002, I set a goal to earn a state title. After 2 years of sweat and dedication I decided to get back on the stage. I began training for the Washington State Bodybuilding Championships 15 weeks before the show.

Marunde-Muscle
You crossed over to fitness/figure, what made you make that decision?

Callie
As a female strength athlete it's tough dealing with the constant stereotyping that depicts female weightlifters as burly beasts. In reality, girls who lift weights look awesome. Competing in figure is my way of proving that women can be pretty and have muscles too. Crossing over was alot of fun. All the figure competitors were great! We really had a good time on and off stage.

Marunde-muscle
Will you be competing in any more strongwomen contests?

Callie
Of course! Strength contests like the ones put on by NASS www.nastrongman.com are a blast to compete in. I love to challenge myself and push my body as hard as I can. Jesse thinks I can win another national championship in strongwomen as a pro figure competitor. I would love to prove that women can be strong and feminine.

Marunde-Muscle
What are you going to do in the future? Do you plan on competing in bodybuilding or fitness figure?

Callie
My new goal is to compete in figure and try to earn my pro card. My next show is in February. I intend to compete at the IronMan in Pasadena. www.thefitexpo.com

Marunde-Muscle
You just finished training for 3 months and you're already planning your next competition?

Callie
If I want to be the best I have no room for error. I have to remain focused and keep working hard. Like I tell my clients; it's a lifestyle. I make it "My Thing" to bring my food with me everywhere I go. I make it "My Thing" to wake up early and get cardio done before I go to work. Training hard and maintaining a healthy diet are as normal to me as waking up every morning.

Marunde-Muscle
What was your favorite part about training for this contest?

Callie
I enjoyed the entire experience. I had the support of my entire family so that made it a lot easier for me. Quality time spent in the gym with my husband was refreshing. He really made me train hard, and I put every ounce of myself into my workouts. Sometimes if I missed a lift, he would feel worse then me. I also really enjoyed my morning cardio. Every morning Jack, my American bulldog, and I would go on a run. I would also use this time for my daily devotional with the Lord. It feels good to be super productive before most people have eaten breakfast.

I would like to thank my sweetheart for all his help, support, and love. And I would like to thank www.grasslandbeef.com for producing the best beef on the planet. I won't eat store bought beef ever again!
