Wow, how f-ing annoying. Glad you're back up and running, though. For what it's worth, this forum and site are going to be awesome once things really get going, and I, for one, would kick in a few bucks if need be. Having this resource is worth it.

That sucks. Glad you're back up and running. This is a nice place, and I'm sure it'll fill up with good info again in no time.

You and I have already had this discussion and i feel that I cna share it with the group. Simply the people in this web group are your friend.. so why would friends let you carry the freight for something that we all enjoy.. no way..i think the only option is to charge an annual fee. my suggestion is as follows.. put it out to the group how many people will stay as a pay site.. i figure you will get about 100 responses.. charge say 30.00 annuallly = 3000.00 total (advice ain't free) and then collect the $$$..

a really simple way to collect would be for me to set up a paypall account and then I would have to grant permission to each new registered member after they sent money and before they could view the forums. I suppose this would work. My fear though is that the cost would deter too many people from joining. My greatest concern is creating a kick ass forum where everyone can learn and share. Cost is a secondary concern.

I would gladly pay for access to the site, after it went down I started twitching when I didn't get my daily fix.

It is a great site and I am happy to see it up again, so what ever I have to do to help you keep it up let me know. :)

Hi All. I'm really glad the site is back. For a new site, I was addicted fast and hard.
I'd be willing to pay. However, I have no statistics on how active or profitable "pay" sites are. For example, how well is cyberpump doing, since Bill went to a pay format?

Again, glad Jesse is back on-line. This is place is already great.
Best wishes,
Rich

Hey Jesse, I'm really glad you got the forum back up and running dude, it was shaping up into something very cool and I agree with your stance on using real names.

I don't expect you'll be able to get bandwidth statistics from that scamming hosting company but I would guess that the majority of your traffic was due to that (cool) 20 rep squat vid. The link to that vid on your server was doing the rounds on a load of strongman forums and at roughly 180mb that racks up bandwidth usage real quick when exposed to a big audience.

One way to help keep bandwidth to a minimum is for members to use off-site image and video hosting services.
I use www.easypichost.com for images (Yahoo and MSN do free image hosting) and www.putfile.com for video clips.

right on. if you post those in the media section I'll make them a sticky so they stay on top. we have 1000gig of bandwidth now, so we should be good to go without exceding our limits.

I would join a pay forum in a second. The really knowlegable poeple don't run forums. That is why this one is so great. Heck if it is a pay to play setup maybe some of the other pros might join and you would hell of a good forum on your hands! Not that it isn't great already!

I wouldn't worry about it, on the Power and Bulk forum where I heard about this site, they consisently get donations whenever money is needed; if this forum rocks as much as we all expect it to, I'm sure you'll never have to worry about funds.

der, thanks for your input.

Lance, I've already begun mentioning your idea to some other pros. Most like the idea. we'll see what happens...

Jesse,
I would have no problem with paying if you started charging for access to your site. It's a great site with good people and a ton of info. Well worth paying to keep.
