hey gang

at the risk of sounding a bit gay. I have to ask has anyone here done a cleanse?? I am considering one right after x-mas.. I am a LW that will unfortunately hit 250 lbs over the holidays.

I was thinking about doing a 7 day cleanse during the first week of january. hopefully to get that 7 - 10 lbs of crap sitting in my intestines out.. does anyone have any advice, experiences etc.

let me know..

Is this like the thing on The Ultimate Fighter where they stick a tube up your bum?

There is probably stuff that hasn't been fully digested or is stuck in there, but the idea that it will make you healthier I don't believe. Technically your GI tract is not "inside" your body, so those items should not affect you, nor are they these magical toxins that make us diseased. As far as losing weight, I'm sure it does shed some lbs, but I think there are probably better and healthier ways such as just upping your conditioning/GPP work.

This is a very common myth... but you really don't have 7-10lbs of waste in your body, you have a steady (but small) accumulation of it over time, that is also cleared out over time as your body finishes with it.

It's a process of digestion, your colon retains food longer if you are dehydrated because your colon extracts water from your waste before it's completely done with it. If you aren't dehydrated and get adequate fiber, you will already be fairly "clean" to begin with. 2 days of laxatives and a 24-hour fast of "clear liquids only" will get you as clean as you can be if you are already healthy... this is the process done before a colonoscopy, and I promise you is nothing left there, and definately not 7-10lbs of poop (I have the pictures to prove it).

I use a 3 week digestive cleanser every six months, during this time it allows your body to actually process nutrients better and more efficiently. As well it cleans alot of toxins out of your body. ;) As for change in weight, maybe 0-4 lbs at most.

cleanses are a big scam. If you ever investigate them, you'll find that all the stuff that comes from people looks exactly the same, and a lot of people think that the products you take for the cleanse cause this "great mass of poop", and then people believe it was actually clogging up their body. Since everyone consumes different kinds of toxins, supposedly, don't you think that everyone's waste would look different from this cleanse?

the body is an amazing thing, and i have faith that my body will digest the food properly when it's done with it, and doesn't keep stuff just laying around inside my body.

Unless you have a diverticular disease, colon cleansing is probably a waste of money for you. I know some people swear by them and maybe they won't hurt you but there's not one shred of decent peer-reviewed research to indicate that they help a person digest nutrients better, improve circulation, or remove pound after pound of fecal matter "stuck" in the intestines.

In fact, you can gain weight from them because your colon is designed to absorb water. Nurses sometimes use this method as a last resort to rehydrate people who are seriously dehydrated and vascular access can't be obtained. Your electrolytes can get imbalanced by someone doing it wrong too.

But if you do decide to try it, please go to someplace really clean and reputable!

I've done a few, and while I didn't notice feeling any better afterward (nor did I drop much weight at all), I can safely say that I've seen some weird...well...crap come out of me that didn't seem to make any sense in being like anything I'd ever seen before. Not sure what it was or where it came from, but it's probably for the best that I didn't have it inside any longer than necessary :D

If you want something that's a bit on the longer side (20-30 days) but is really easy to do, go to www.drnatura.com and check that one out. Didn't inconvenience my schedule any - just a few pills and a small fiber shake in the morning and a mug of tea at night, and it yielded some "interesting" results in the end (or, out of the end, I suppose :D )

By the way, if you visit the site, don't check the gallery if you've just eaten. Some freaky stuff in there.

Bowel cleansing is not necessary unless you are scheduled for a colonoscopy. If it makes you feel better though... Buy 4- 5 fleets enemas and squirt them into you Rectum.... ASS. See how long you can hold them before the urge overtakes you... then Sh@$ your Brains out!

I made it about 4 days on the miracle cleanse (the one where all you have is a drink made of lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne peeper), which you are supposed to be on for 10 days or longer. I did lose some weight, but it came right back as soon as I started eating solids again.

Ryan,

how long before you saw the "results" from the Colonix? I'm at about the 2 week mark and I have yet to see much of a difference besides being more regular. But I could have gotten that from a can of metamucil. I'm dissapointed with the results and will probably return the rest for a refund.

Hey dude! Here's something that will freak you out, eh. All that crap you eat over the holidays? It's not sitting in your colon, eh. It accumulates directly under your skin!! Take your bodyfat via calipers before your binging period, directly after your binge and 7-14 days after you start eating clean again.

HA the crazy poo people from TV must of got into your head.

All that stuff is retarded and totally false. What they dont tell you is these cleanses usually just force out food that has already been ate before they started. We eat quite a bit of food a day. Average person i think eats 3-5lbs of food a day. Imagine started a cleanse thing and 3-6lbs of food comes out and you lose weight because all your doing is drinking a liquid! hahaha some people believe anything.

If you want to clean your poop shoot, go buy some organic mini wheat type cereal. Eat the whole box in one day, Followed by some other high fiber foods. Grab some magazines from the store during check out maybe a mini tv.

Once that stuff starts going through the intestines it will grab most food still digest and drag it out.

Eat a healthy amount of fiber daily and nothing will be stuck in there. Eat alot of meat and yes it will take a bit longer to digest as meats pretty hard to digest compared to fruits and veggies. Most americans have a very high meat diet hense they success stories from any colon scraper diet!

Jamie, I did three days of just water, about 64oz. an hour. I owned my own gym at the time so I could keep running to the head. First day I was a little cranky, second day was a little better, third day felt great, not an ache or pain anywhere, even tried max lifts.

I wouldn't recommend this for everyone but it worked for me.

Mike,

The first time took about 2.5-3 weeks to see anything weird, the 2nd time was just about 2 weeks, but I only did it for slightly longer as I got the flu in the middle of the cleanse and decided to wrap it up early. I think that the pictures on the Dr. Natura site show the weirdest case scenario for what you can expect, and sometimes, if you're not "checking" to see what came out you'd easily miss things because it's not all just big ropy junk like they hype it up through the photos. I'd give it another week, but after that, if you're not seeing anything odd you probably were cleaner than you'd imagined :D

Hmmm, eat lots of fiber, magazines and a mini tv... sounds like a plan. Now what part of the tv do you eat first? I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the wires... Oh wait... nevermind:cool::D
