I know, strange question..... :BB:

I have trained with a tire before so I know its kind of loud...

Problem is I train in the basement (subterranean garage) in my parents house.
I just bought a good floor padding for the stone, now the cups stay on the table when I drop them :D

Thing is I want a tire. Do you think I can train with this thing in the basement or is the impact to loud or better said will the whole house wobble when I train?
I cant store the tire outside.

Whats are your thoughts? Possible?

For the stone, I'd recommend using a small tire as a pad.

As for the tire, that could go either way. A smaller tire might not be bad, try to set it up so it falls on an uneven surface so it doesn't "clap" as much.

Im sure other ppl might have better sugestions but i figured i'd give it a shot. 2 options.

One when you flip the tire, and you have it to the top position and are about to push it down to the ground. Push it harder on one side of the tire than the other side. So when it falls it wobbles when it hits the floor and doesnt have that loud clap sound when it fits flat.

The other option which might work the best for eliminating the sound factor. Set up the tire infront of a wall and flip it up against the wall... Then bring it back down towrds you lightly or you could take a smaller car tire or and bring it back on one of those.

Hope that helps

Ok, understand I'm from Florida and we don't have basements but, I have been in many--seen many and frankly, how the hell are you gonna get a tire that big in the basement?

I'm picturing Mom cooking Dad lunch one day and good ole Tobias wheels a tire through the kitchen and throws a peace sign...

Help me out here... :BB:

.
BWAAHAAHAAA!!! That's funny! I don't know if I could roll a front end loader tire down into the basement...
Maybe he's using a scraper tire.

I think it would be a bad idea to try and train w/ a tire in a basement. If you are training in a basement, use your space for a platform, farmers, yoke and your stone. Let us know the outcome of your decision Tobias.

lots of basements are walk-out basements so that there are doors on the back side.

Thank you for making me feel dumb Ryan LOL...of course they do! I was just picturing what Paul was saying in his post.

I still think it wouldn't be the best idea to try and train tire in a basement...

You can work on a tire in the basement. I train with Mike Westerling and he has three tires (~500#, 700#, 800# are his best estimation of weight) in his basement. You have to be careful of where you place the unused tires :-) Tipping tires can be dangerous.

If the house starts wobbling from a tire hitting a concrete foundation, I'd move, no run, out of there really really fast if I were you! It does make a resounding thud but the level of noise will be influenced by many acoustic factors...the size of the garage, what's in it, etc. You'll have to try and find out about that one.

It may be a language thing, but he did say it was a subterranean GARAGE. Even though it's a basement, if its set up as a garage, it shouldn't be too much different than many of us who use attached garages. Even though many Germans drive small cars, a tire would fit through the door.

ok
For me its like a basement... I use the stair to get down there, then I walk through the "normal" basement, then there is a big steel door and behind the steel door there is the garage.
Its on the same level then the rest of the basement so its like a basement garage but this damn translation tool said its so-called subterranean garage.... You can drive down there with the car, so no problem to get a tire down.
Ok as an example:
You can get down there like this:

and inside it looks like this (well not quite that big.....)

I think we should all learn German to avoid such things :)

thanks for the tips....
You think beside the noise it would be no problem.
So no cracks in the concrete from dropping, and no "wobbling" or "shaking" of the house.
I live in the ?top floor? with my GF and she said she felt the "shock" of dropping the stones up there.... now with the new padding thats no problem anymore, but when a tire develops the same shock and I drop it like ten times in a row... I think I would be in some serious trouble.

I already have a Yoke, Fames and all this stuff down there the only thing thats missing to complete my collection is a tire.

I'm picturing Mom cooking Dad lunch one day and good ole Tobias wheels a tire through the kitchen and throws a peace sign...
Maybe I should try this, the look on there faces would be worth all the trouble :D

Mike's house has a concrete foundation and wood framing. Nothing has ever fallen or been damaged upstairs to my knowledge. It looks like you have concrete supports and roof in that parking garage. That will more than adequately control any major vibrations. I think the biggest issue would be an echo from the tire since it is such a large space. I wouldn't practice at 2:00AM if you like your neighbors :-)
