Does anyone know which days the arnold classic strongman contest will be held on. I know the arnold is on Feb 29 - March 02, but I don't know which days the strongman contest will be held on.
What tickets do you need to buy to view the strongman contest? Do the Expo tickets allow you to watch the strongman contest?
Also, will pudzianowski, savickas, pfister, kazmaier etc. be at the Expo to meet/sign autographs? Does kaz still work the met-rx booth?
Thanks, Eric M.

Maybe he's gonna be there to get autographs too.. I hear he wants Lou Ferrigno's, Ronnie Coleman's, and Jay Cutler. Maybe even Arnold's. Most of all though he wants Mariusz's signature to add to his collection of Mariusz signatures..haha
:EL:
He might even compete while he's there if he collects all the autographs he wants on time.

To watch the first two days of the competition you only need the expo pass ($10). Last year the final event was held after the BBing final ($75). I don't know who is gonna be there this year.

Thanks. I got that far but I want to know exactly the date and time as I was planning to enter a competition on that Saturday in Illinois and wondered if I can drive to Columbus in time for the SM events at the Arnold should they also be on Saturday. It's a long shot but I'd like to try. My guess is that the SM events are either Friday or Saturday though and there's no way to pull this road trip off.

Jay the day pas gets you into everything, except the final BB which is on Saturday night in a different center. It is a great deal, you can take in the strongman on the main stage, the power and oly lifting in the other areas of the convention center. Free samples and goodies from all the hot booth babes. You get to meet a lot of strongmen and old school body builders. Last year we met Phil Phister, Don Pope, Jesse (RIP), the Gillinghams crew (our Minnesota boys) Frank Zane, Lou Ferrigno, saw Kara in the power lifting, to name few.
Basically full run of the show. It is awesome.
Make hotel reservation soon as I just made mine and they are getting tight there is also a UFC fight Saturday night plus whatever thing OSU has going on.

Papa Klavetter is right. Here is a little more info if you want it.
At the Greater Columbus Convention Center EXPO Halls - $10 pass per day
On Friday, the Strongman contest should start right after the Female BB, Fitness, and Figure prejudging...which puts it at around 3PM and will last to around 6PM (usually will be 3 events). So you'll already be gawking at the lady flesh, so just hang around close to the stage and hustle into the front rows once the prejudging is over.
On Saturday, the Strongman contest should start at around 1PM and last till
3PM (usually 2 events).
At the Veteran's Memorial Auditorioum - $50-$75 limited seating
Saturday after the Men's BB Final, the Strongman Final event will take place, around 9:30PM till 10PM.
Tickets here

2007 Final results here
http://www.americanstrongman.org/articles/detail.asp?ArtID=202
UFC event will take place at the Nationwide Arena at around 10PM
Rumor is that is will be Anderson Spider Silva vs Dan Henderson headlining...supposed to be a fight of the year contender in the making.
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/rumors.asp?articleid=5097&zoneid=14
Last year, I believe the Couture fight at Natiowide set the all time US attendance record for an MMA event.
Get hotels early. There is a free shuttle between event locations if needed.
Downtown hotels zip code 43215 - http://www.hotelbyzipcode.com/oh/43215-columbus3.htm
WWE recruitment, Boxing, Wrestling, Powerlifting, Weightlifting, Cheerleading,...you name it, it is probably there or will be in the future cause it keeps growing every year.

Only thing that made it close was Zydrunas's performance in the Timber Carry event. In that event, Vasyl went and destroyed the old record, and then Andrus goes and destroys Vasyl's newly set record. Travis set an American record in that event also. Zydrunas didn't go very far and placed 6th. Nobody could consistently hang with him on the rest of the events though.
2005 was the year for someone to beat Zydrunas, but noone was consistent enough.
That's what it is gonna take to beat Zydrunas, top 2 placements in all the events. Unless of course Zydrunas starts messing up.

Freak occurence!!
The HYATT Convention Center is flooded badly! This is the building that hosts the Arnold EXPO, about 97% of all the Arnold, including the Strongman contest!! Rumors are that the building is buckling and might collapse!!

Wow.. too bad for Columbus, it's a great city... loosing any convention is big money... and if they can't repair it in a timely manner, they will be loosing a lot of them... ouch.

Yeah the time matter is of big concern with the Arnold Weekend. Will it be postponed, relocated, cancelled?? With essentially a month and 1/2 left, it is hard to imagine how fast and hard they will have to work to get it ready on time.
Building is structurally sound!!
Awaiting news on potential convention delays.

Thanks for the news update Garrick, this could really screw things up, or it could work out in our favor. By that I mean if they have to move some of the shows around we may get the strongman events in their own venue so we won't have to fight the fitness model fans for good seats. Just trying to think positive. Anyway keep us posted, as I am sure you will.

Looks like all is well and the Convention Center is good to go. Arnold EXPO should proceed as planned!
Unofficially, I think the athletes will be as follows.
Vasyl Virastyuk
Zydrunas Savickas
Mikhail Koklyaev
Andrus Muramets
Derek Poundstone
Phil Pfister
Brian Siders
Benedikt Magnusson
Mariusz Pudzianowski is uncertain now
A Ukraine contest on January 26th will determine another Arnold competitor as the winner will be invited. Athletes competing in that, that I know of are Oli Thompson (Britain), Oleksander Pekanov (Ukraine), Stephen Solvi (Iceland)
The Fit EXPO winner may get the alternate slot, meaning if anyone drops out before the contest, the alternate will take their place in competition. Travis Ortmayer, Nick Best, Dave Ostlund, Marshall White are a few athetes competing in the Fit EXPO. If the Mariusz situation isn't resolved before this contest then the Fit EXPO winner may compete. None of this is certain though.

Ironmind article http://www.ironmind.com/ironcms/morenewsv6.php?id=2322#2322 with some comments on Vasyl and Co. Not much has been seen or heard of about Vasyl since his WC win. According to this article he will be coming into the Arnold at better then ever shape. IMO he needs a win to solidify his WC win. Not to take anything away from his victory, but I'm sure he really wants to win the Arnold this year.
Mikhail just won Russia's Strongest Man and apparently is looking better then ever winning 5 of the 6 events. The event he lost was the DL, the winner got 410kg and Mikhail got a 400kg DL.
Russia's Strongest Man was an Arnold style contest also, Mikhail's performance was:
792lb Timber Carry 36ft up ramp - 1st - 7.3sec (that is very fast, yet it is .6 slower then Andrus and the Timber is 73 lbs lighter then the Arnold Timbers.)
335lb Apollon Axle reps in 60 sec - 1st - 7 reps
Max weight Apollon Axle DL, 3 attempts - 2nd - 770, 836, 880lb
968lb Super Yoke 30ft - 1st - 8.17 sec
220, 180, 143lb thick handle Dumbbell, pick your poison - 1st - 3 reps at 220lb
352 lb Manhood Stones, reps in 60 sec - 1st - 9 reps

Lesley, I had that exact same thought, which is why it's so frustrating that they give every detail except the actual days on the website.
I'm hoping that maybe there's a chance most of it will be sunday so we could make the drive saturday evening and get to see a lot of it.
