Well since i have to start over with my training and kick everything out of my head that i was doing , does anyone have any advice on where to find a slow steady program ? looking for more of a conditioning fat loss type of program rather than strength training at the moment .

maybe try some cardio do it under 20 min at an extremeley high intesity.....AST website has a real good program http://www.ast-ss.com/

You know your body better than anyone else does, what does your body tell you as you train...what I mean is, I think you are advanced enough to make your own simple modifications to your work without having to go after a completely different routine, it could be as simple as cutting 15 to 20 minutes off of your workout and incresing your rep range to the 8-12 area for a month or 2, I personally wouldnt get completely away of what you are doing now.

I've checked out Mr. Boyer site a few times , he's actually my favorite strongman competitor . Never thought to contact him about being diabetic and competing. thanks for that bit of advice Jay .

step up the cardio work and watch the diet mostly man, the strength training will help with your situation and could be the reason you havent had to many really bad complications. IF ya lose most of the fat you might get to a point where your body takes care of itself without to much intervention on your part.


Your sound like your motivated, and ready to accept the challenge. Training wise focus more endurance type workouts, higher reps more sets. This will help burn off the fat with the cardio. I would do couple weeks high rep high sets, then one week heavy. Make sure to test your sugar levels before and after so you can see how it affects you. Main focus right now should be lower the excessive body fat and weight. So try and get your workout schedule built around that. Pretend your a bodybuilder preparing for a show without the whole starving yourself part :LOL:

Diet and exercise can be all the medication a person needs for type II diabetes. You can kick it in the teeth! You have the strength both mentally and physically! Just another speed bump!

I like the complexes described in this article, http://www.elitefts.com/documents/metabolic_power_training.htm. It was great for getting my metabolism running in the mornging and increasing my conditioning.
