Who is the World's Strongest Celebrity?
Source: Variety January 22, 2008
"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" producer Michael Davies is teaming with IMG to develop "The World's Strongest Celebrity," a star-centric spin-off of IMG's long-running "The World's Strongest Man" competition, reports Variety.
The series would feature well-known people squaring off against each other in a series of physical challenges designed to test their strength. The civilian edition began more than 30 years ago on CBS and is now seen on ESPN2.
It's expected celebrities will be asked to pull off modified versions of the challenging feats from "World's Strongest Man."
It's likely the format of the show would match that of "Dancing With the Stars," with celebrities training with pros and facing weekly elimination.

and considering the type of training given a number of celebs for some of the recent action movies it might actually be an impressive show and not as watered down as we might expect form other celebrity edition shows.

My vote is on Carrottop, for 3 reasons...
1. He's a B-List celeb, really... and that seems to be the focus of these shows.
2. He's pretty freaking muscular for any celeb, especially a comedian.
3. He's not a former athlete.

I think that red headed Bonaducci guy would bully Carrot top...Hes the one on that reality show that when another star jumped up onto him, he dumped him over his head, and the guy had to go to the ER...My vote is for him for now...

Ya,but Danny Bonaducci would get dq'd for failing a drug test lol(that surprised me when I watched the show),or flipping out and killing someone.Im curious as to who they do choose to compete.

This could be real lop sided if they choose celebs like Dancing w/ the stars does. I think any former athlete (or pro wrestler) could distroy and former boy-bander. Picture Tiki Barber vs Justin Timberlake.

yeah that was wicked funny when he did that.... My concern would be that the show would downplay the sport of strongman as something like a freakshow instead of the great sport it is.... Not saying that is how it would go down but i could see something like that happening

I think my Mom has enough star power for this; she definitely has the physical power. She'd drop Bonaduce or Carrot Top. I'll bring it up..

They should let a couple of us jump in to see how they stack up... it is an awesome concept for a show. Might finally end the misconception that people have of what strongman competition really is - I have had a ton of people ask me if I pull buses with my teeth and ridiculous things like that.

Carrot Top works out at my gym (and he is big too), if I see him I'll run it by him lol
As for the show, no thanks. You have professional musicians; American Idol and Guitar Hero make their profession look like a joke. I think the sport should maintain its image as top athletes from around the world competing. Not some 30 Million dollar celebrity with Gucci custom made rehbands...
I guess I don't like the though of downplaying the sport to a "reality show", which we all know is rigged and set up.

His weight is obviously exaggerated.
And he wouldn't give any real pro strongmen a challenge.

Bob Sapp according to NFL scouts (he laye briefly until failing a drug test) is a shade over 6'4. When I met him here in Vegas two years ago he was noticeably taller than me and I'm just under 6'4 (6'3 5/8 according to NFL scouts). He is every bit of 350+.
Michael Clark Duncan is a legit 6'5 and 335lbs, met him here as well (gotta luv vegas). That was after filming Daredevil where he said he was at his heaviest. I think he may bee around 295 now. He's in his late 40s though.

Mirko CroCop fought Bob Sapp in a Pride Fight...CroCop is about 190-200lbs max.....He punched Bob Sapp one time in the face, and knocked him out...Sapp stayed down on the floor holding his jaw and crying for quite some time...Not that it didn't hurt, but I expected more out of Sapp...
He's big and strong, but I think his rep is tarnished. Look on YouTube for that fight...
How about Grandmaster Flash and the fabulous 5, he's like 100 but have you seen him LOL??

I thought Cro-cop kicked him and broke his rib. Could be wrong, but really didn't think it was the punch.
edit: I was wrong. He hit Sapp in the face, broke what appeared to be a bone round the eye-socket.

Gunter Schlierkamp co-starred in that straight to video hit BEERFEST. Does that make him a celebrity? As a BB'er, his athleticism is suspect though.
For an athletic, speed oriented Strongman, I'd have to go with Terry Crews. He plays Chris' dad, Julius,on Everybody Hates Chris. He's a former NFL defensive end and is carrying a lot of muscle. Speed + strength = success

yes Wesley I have seen that fight before and I am a huge fan of Cro Cop's actually. However, I don't think that by getting knocked out by one of the quickest and hardest hitting HW's in the world has any relation to being a good strongman. Maybe that's not what you meant though! and I think someone else said it but Cro Cop is around 225 BW.
