Any Strongman groups in CA?

I'm stationed at Vanderberg AFB, CA, and live in nearby Santa Maria, in the Central Coast region. I trained strongman back in Illinois, but haven't found a new crew yet. Is anybody around the Santa Maria area?

Hey Lance, I train in Santa Cruz, which I believe is about 2-3 hours away. I have also started doing some event training up at Diablo Barbell in Concord, which is another 1.5 hours. There's also the Freak Factory in Downey, CA in the LA area, and there is also Odd Haugen and his crew whom I believe train in Long Beach or near there. There is also Rusty Kier, Eric Peterson, and couple other guys who train in Fresno. I'm not sure of anyone else in between there, or closer to you.

the freak factory in downey, is taking a little break from what i understand and not training much at this time!

Thanks for the responses. I think the Freak Factory is the closest to me, but all of those places are about 2-3 hours. I don't mind driving once a week for event training, but I wanted to see if there was anybody closer.

Jay, do you know if the Freak Factory is going to resume training anytime soon? I contacted David Standifer, who said that a guy named Jon Hergert lives in Santa Maria, but trains with the Factory.

Hey Lance,

Jon isnt training for strongman any more. But Scott and Pete from the FF were at North Bay Pain and Glory last year so I'm sure they are still in the mix.
