Hey, I'm new to this sport but hear there are a good amount of guys from IL in here. I personally live in Lincolnshire which is like 45min from Chicago itself. Is anyone near me that would be willing to have a 16yo kid like me around them and be able to show me a few things, plus have me train with them?
If there's none around me I was thinking of checking this place out, they got strongman equipment....

But I assume the prices will be insane, apparently a bunch of pro hockey and football players train there so good luck to myself trying to get in.

Tony Soucie posts hear. He has multiple contests during the year with teen divisions. Enter as many as you can. Nothing helps more than competing and meeting lots of guys. He has a contest in March. Look on NAS's website for details.
Jason Bever is in Chicago. He has some teens that train with him. He posts on the anvil
Chris Hickson lives in Aurora. I think he is 15 or 16. He has competed in some contests and has done very well.
I think Alex Apostol is away at college but he posts here as well.

You are welcome to come down to the city and train with me any time. I work out at Quads, which is near Wrigley. It's just a regular gym but a very good one. He has axles, a log, farmers handles, and excellent non-strongman equipment. I'm going to have him get some kegs soon too. I'm no pro or anything (just started in June) but I know you're way north so it would be less of a drive. Always helps to have other people to train with once in a while.
I believe a lot of Jason Bever's stuff like his farmers and yoke are at Lance's Gym too, which is just off 55 on the south side. Fairly easy to get to.

Hey man. I live at Purdue right now but I come home frequently. I usually lift in my basement, at the B&W gym in Chicago, or at the YMCA in Northbrook on occasion.

Always welcome to train here. 60 miles South of Chicago near the IL/ IN border.
We have a bunch of stuff.

holy crap, I called that place in my link, EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! You need to take an assessment first that costs $250 and then after that for training its $75 dollars a sessions and you sign up in 10 session incrememnts so all 10 sessions would cost $750, THATS pretty much a THOUSAND bucks for once a week sessions for 10 weeks. That's definitely out for me. If I have any free time from school or somthing Ill look some of you up and take advantage of training with you guys.
Thanks again for the help.
