How far do you think competitiors will get in the overhead medley? What implement do you think will be ACTUALLY PRESSED?

Overhead Power Medley:

275-pound (125 kg) “Louis Cyr long bar iron-cast barbell”;

2 x 150 pounds (68 kg) “Louis Cyr spherical dumbbells” simultaneous clean and press/push press;

370 pound (168 kg) log clean and press, push press or jerk;

350 pound (159 kg) Apollon Axle replica clean and press, push press or jerk;

308 pound (140 kg) Icelandic Stone clean and press/push press.

My vote is the Axle (which I will really be impressed by when someone gets). My reasoning is that competitors had such a hard time with the stone pressing events at WSM 2006 and more recently the videos of the 250 stone at St pattys compounded with the fact that the world record stone press (I believe) is only a few lbs more. Anyone with actual details please post. At any rate this is not to be negative, I look forward to seeing some guys prove me wrong. Best of luck to them all!
Thanks,
-Mike

Whats the Louis Cyr barbell like? How long is it, is their rotation of the weights?

I think at least a couple of the competitors will get the stone.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more than a few finish. I think Z and Poundstone will finish for sure.

I honestly don't think the Medley looks all that bad! I'm just curious about the Stone press. If its a pretty flat block looking thing it wont be too hard. The world record for the block press is 319.5 lbs, held by me :M:

I'm currently under the impression that if it can be pressed overhead, Derek can do it.

I'm not one of those that is going to hero worship, but I don't think there are many out there with better OH pressing ability than lbstone. I see more OH records going down this way.

That said, if you get through the medley Derek, good luck lifting your arms over your ears the next day.

I think the axle will finish it up, but if anyone gets all 5, I think I may just quit and go back to powerlifting for I am that far behind! :LOL:

That's awesome! Congrats on the record. Do you think by then you will be able to get 11 lbs less than your record at the end of that medley? I'm not doubting you at all just curious.

Honestly, it doesn't look that threatening to me. Out of my league, yes- but I have no doubt that Trav, Derek and Z at least will get through it. I think the real question is that hour long stone event! What in the heck is that all about?!?

After seeing Derek press the big DB at the Arnold I definitely see him finishing.

It might even come down to who is the fastest instead of who can finish
