You can usually find blueprints and designs if you look online.

What would something like that cost in comparison to name brand stuff like ironmind? I've ordered some stuff from Alan B. and thought his prices were more than reasonable.

Alan's going to be tough to beat. Not only because of the price and service, but because he also competes he knows what the stuff is for, and because he's been doing this a while he knows the potential problem areas (ie, what needs reinforced, etc).

idk know what it will cost but im pretty sure it would be cheaper then 175+ shipping (175 is cheapest i have seen it online)

for a LOG

the FW handles should be like 50bucks at most

who is Alan what are his prices?

edit- nevermind alan is the pitbull equipment guy

do you guys have any idea how much shipping would be for his 12'' log?

ok so i did a search just now on pitbull and after reading alot of post i concluded that pitbull stuff is good stuff and cheapest on the net

also i notice that if i did go to a welder he would not know what alan knows weak points and stuff that could potentially hurt me if it broke

im going to go with alans stuff its just shipping is going to be insane!

Shipping not that bad bro, I think the yoke is $90 on top of its base price for the shipping and the Deluxe farmers are $150 total shipped. I've never talked to Alan except to order stuff and I can say best service ever.........EVER!!!

Any guy skilled enough to weld should be able to look at a picture of the equipment and figure out how to make it, so bring pictures. As for measurements, since there really isn't a "standard" for the implements, you can use your imagination and come up with the measurements on your own. Talk out the design with the person doing the work and make sure you're both on the same page so you don't get something that you weren't expecting.

jesse, i don't know how the welders in the bronx are, but i've gone to a few in brooklyn, and they all turned me down....i even gave them blueprints.

I ordered a log and farmers from Pitbull....great stuff, pretty cheap.

I would've built stuff myself, but I just didn't have a place to weld.

From what i am seen, Alan is giong to be the cheapest unless you are friends with a welder that will work for free or very cheap. I know a guy who runs a metal shop and we are discussing how much everything is going to cost. One thing you have to keep in mind is that you cant just go buy the length of pipe you need for one piece of equipment. A lot of supply houses only sell metal tubing in 20ft increments. 20ft of 2" solid piple could run you 300-$400 by itself.

I bought a farmers from Alan at pitbull. I've spent days searching for the cheapest equipment and trust me you can't beat Alan's prices. He gives you fast shipping and cheap as hell prices. However, I don't think you can return your items, but I don't feel you should have to unless you drop them from a roof. Which has been known to happen.

It's not as bad as you would think.

His stuff is top notch. I'm lucky enough to be 3hrs from him and can save on the shipping ;)

Why buy solid pipe? Schedule 80 2" OD is pretty inexpensive in comparison. We have dropped it from OH with quite a bit of weight with no problems.

We've bent 2 sch 80 axles. I'd go solid as well.

You need solid for everything, but I would definately use it for Axles. But for the yoke, you can use hollow pipe to load plates on since they will not be making direct contact with the ground.

What types of weights are you dropping? and do you use bumbers?

We actually did bend one, but we are pretty sure it was a forklift that bent it and had little to do with us.

I gotta disagree with you here, I know Alan uses hollow pipe on his yokke because I have one. But I 've made farmers as well which are hollow and they haven't shown any kind of bend. I know it makes the initial implement heavier and stronger, but I don't think the benefits outweight the added cost.

EX: I just made an axle with 2" sch 80 pipe. The whole thing start to finish cost about 30 dollars. So I could have many made and bend before it would equal the vlue of getting solid.

Just my 2 cents.

I meant to say you DONT need solid for everything. But I would recommend it for the axles.

what is the difference in cost between a 2" solid pipe(7') and a 2" non solid pipe?

Just a quick reality check- The vast majority of the members here have probably never donated a red cent to this forum, regardless of how much it's helped so many, so these posts don't surprise me. Why would you not support a reputable sponsor of this forum and numerous contests who prices his stuff so economically and offers fast shipping and excellent service? Given the astronomical increase in the cost of steel and fuel (and subsequent shipping expenses), it's pretty obvious that he's not getting rich making any of this stuff for us. You can support your local hack welder who has no idea how to put together a good implement and could give a crap about strongman, or you can yourself and the rest of us a favor by contributing directly to our sport and this forum by supporting the individuals and companies who actually care and give back. Furthermore, a lot of people need to wise up to the fact that the money that keeps this place running still largely comes out of the shallow back pocket of a single mom and the wife of one of our fallen brothers. Some of you need to step up.
