I live in Milwaukee, WI. I've been trying to locate any training crews or facilities that are used for strongman training. So far, the only people I know of in Wisconsin that do strongman are me and my brothers. [B]Are there any websites I can use to locate groups or facilities? It seems like there aren't many strongmen in WI. It sure would be nice to have a few more training partners.

There's a good deal of people in the Milwaukee area that train and have implements - hopefully one of them will see your post and get in touch with you. I'm on a long-term light training situation due to injuries, otherwise I'd try to help out more, but I haven't been in touch with a lot of those guys in a while so I don't know who is hosting the training groups these days. But, there's definitely a solid group of people around the city and the suburbs that train hard and have plenty of equipment, so hopefully one of 'em will post here or PM you with info.

Hi Benjamin,
There are LOTS of strongmen and more than a few strongwomen in Wisconsin. Most in the Milwaukee area.

Animal House gym in West Allis is a popular spot to train. I'm there several days a week with Jason Luce and his PL friend, John. The Bergmans aren't too far away. Pete Kondradt trains in Mequon now I believe. Not sure where Matt Wanat is at now though.

If you want to come by Animal House sometime, shoot me a PM and I'll let you know where it is and exactly when. Typically around 3-3:30 is when we start. Also we have implements to train with on Sundays.

Then you haven't been looking to hard. The Bergman's, all of whom hold pro-cards, are near your area. Tony Scrivens is one of the longest running promoters in the sport, Paul Neuhaus (worthless) is some guy, There are a few good guys in Eau Claire, one is a complete tool who prides himself on stones and grip, like that means anything. I know there are a few guys in LaCrosse, and probably a brazillion more. Come out to the Fox Cities contest, watch a bad apple Korean kill a lanky, balding, white boy, and meet A LOT of Wisconsin's strongman scene. Or go to Chicago's Strongest Man and meet some WI guys and some IL guys and one handsome handsome man from Michigan.

Ain't that the truth!!!

Ya dude, you must not be looking very hard. WI probably has one of the highest concentrations of strongmen per capita than most other states.

The best way to search for training crews is to go on various forums (such as this one) and just post a thread saying that you live in Milwaukee and you're looking for people to train with. But, to say that there aren't many strongmen in WI is downright funny!

I do train with a good group of people, but I can't invite you because it's not at my house. I'll talk to my buddy this weekend and see if he's ok with you and your brother joining us some weekend.

You probably misunderstood what I said. I know there are a lot of strongmen in WI. I was wondering where all the training groups are and where they work out. And yes, I am pretty lazy, I must admit that. But my training is always top notch, Im just a lazy MOD EDIT what can I say. And Lesley I believe I met you before at a powerlifting meet if I recall correctly. I remember that name, didn't you break an american record for NASA.

I just started training for SW in November but would LOVE to break some records some day! Last PL meet I went to was in Arkansas, about 1989 I think.
