I bought one a couple weeks ago. IT IS AWESOME!!!! Great for grip training. Cleans and snatches one handed. Plus OH pressing is too much fun with this. I am going to get a second one for farmers with them. I can see these turning into all kinds of events for legitimate SM
contests. Some possible events:

1. one handed snatch for reps, must switch hands each rep
2. clean once press for reps
3. clean and press each rep
4. farmers
5. used in load medley, one handed of course
6. grip event for one handed DL

There might be others.

These are very well built also. We were dropping mine from lock-out OH onto a rubber mat. No problem with the construction.

Did you put shot into it bud?

Brad Ardery picked it up from Steve's for me. When he brought it into our training facility it weighed 84lbs. I assume Brad loaded it with shot to get to that weight. Not sure what it weighs empty. We're going to load it up to about 110 lbs real soon...as soon as we get some more shot.

You might be able to use lead tire weights instead. You probably won't be able to get quite as much weight in but a lot of tire shops will give you these for free.

No slight intended on Steve or Slaters (we own several of his molds---his stuff is top notch no doubt).

But....for West Coasters, there may soon be a closer option that may save on shipping costs. Done up by guys involved in the sport too.

(If mentioning this is out of line in any way, please delete. Like I said, Steve's stuff is tremendous.....but it's always nice to save a little on shipping!!)

Hopefully the guy(s) involved will post up a pic or something.

Thanks for the intro, Buddy!

At the moment, we are developing a similar product, but our concurrent project, the "Circus Maximus Dumbbell" had taken up most of our time. Said DB is actually slightly bigger than the Circus DB used at the Arnold and FitExpo, only like this one it is loadable and ship-able. It is the one seen at the end of Rob Meulenberg's highlight video:

Both of these dumbbells should be ready by Summer. Keep your eyes peeled, watch HouseofPainCA.com, and I'll be sure to announce them officially upon release!

Anything for you Chrissy. ;)

(I just didn't want to overstep....you know how I worry about other peoples feelings...and I wasn't sure when you guys would be ready with the product)

gosh I wish I had the money to get one. that'd be such a good training tool.

how long would it take if you wanted to change the weights from workout to workout(if you wanted to do different lifts)?

Probably depends a lot on what you have in it. Water would come out fast, sand less fast, shot less fast than that, tire weights less than that.

I trained with one of Slaters Monsterbell's before the Arnold. It was a bit larger and was loaded up to 204lbs. It was a great tool to get my hands on and very well built! He's got a bunch of cool product coming out in the near future. He's working on a "True Log" real log for me that's gonna weigh over 300lbs by itself and still be plate loadable along with some other equipment.

Had another look around Slaters site and found this pic of the stone globe inch dumbbell and thinking about making one up. Has anyone else made one?
