I don't know if this is the right section, if not feel free to move

April 6th i have a competition coming up, my first one. Tomorrow i'm gonna train the events like the contest and perhaps also a truckpull and some atlas stones. My question is what should i do the week before the contest? Nutritionwise / trainingwise etc. I am a complete novice and never did any strength sport competitions. I did alot of judo comps but that's a bit different héhé. I've read some stuff about carb loading to get the muscles full of glycoceen for optimal performance. So any tips?

Here are the contest events:

1) Farmers walk medley
(80-100-120 kg, each 30m with a turn at 15m)

2) Logpress (IFSA size log press)
(max weight - 3 attempts)

3) Medley
(Sled pull, 300 kg 15 meter, duckwalk, 160 kg 15 meter, mining cart axle load, 120 kg 15 meter
120 cm high)

4) One handed 50 kg Thomas Inch (60 mm handle) dumbell press for reps (timelimit 60 seconds)

5) Wheelflip (340 kg - 6 flips)

P.S. What you reckon i should take to the comp food/drink wise ? Gear i already figured out ( rehband sleeves / back support, belt, wraps, tape, chalk, etc ). Thx in advance :)

SIMON!!! A man who uses the word "reckon" obviously has a complete and full understanding of the english language! (hahaha, I grew up on a farm and haven't heard that word in years, you just made my day)

Carb loading is great but if you are going to be close to your weight be really careful because it could put you over your weight class. Eat complex carbs, whole grain type stuff, like whole grain breads and if you can find any wheat or whole grain made pastas those are great too and of course brown rice. No need to shovel it down though, a little extra goes a long way. Also one I've done immediatley before powerlifting competitions is take one of those plastic honey bears that you can squeeze, and take a shot of it. The sugars in honey disgest extremely fast and give you a fairly instantaneous burst of energy. (nature's crack, why do you think honey bees are so high strung all the time) If you are within a week of this competition train yes, but don't overkill with alot of volume. You want to be fully healed and ready to put it all on the line come competition time. Good Luck.

(PS, take whatever I say lightly as there are many people here more knowledgable than me, I'm just giving you my two cents)

Thanks for the advice, think i'll just eat alot and clean sources of carbs. The honey thing might be worth a try :). Tomorrow i'm gonna go hard in event training and then i'll take it easy untill the day of the competition.
