Just wanted to know if anyone has tried this protien supplement and what their thoughts were on it's effects (gains, etc). I know it tastes great but i'm more interested in the effects. Just to save some time I know i can get malto and protien for cheaper through certain distributors but I can afford the Muscle Milk and for now am just curious as to what people have experienced and number of shakes per day with timing as well.
Currenlty I take ISS research for post workout and have been eating rice with beef, chicken, and fish as much as possible but find it hard to put on size with only one shake per day because i can't seem to eat enough of regular food (time issue). In the past taking three shakes a day would help me gain so any comments are greatly appreciated.

stats
5'10''
255 lbs
10% BF

would like to put on 10 pounds in the next 4 months.

I typically drink three shakes per day because it's hard for me to get my food intake up since I'm in college and have class a large part of my day. I drink them morning, postworkout, and before bed(slower digesting).

As for Muscle Milk, I took it for a while, but I just used it before bed since it seems to be a slower digesting protein and yes, the taste is awesome(banana is my fav). As for effects, I really can't comment on that because I'm hit and miss on taking it. I'm sure there's a couple people on here that take it all of the time. I think Jesse does...?

I use Muscle Milk regularly and I love it. I take 2-3 two scoop shakes a day mixed in the blender with skim milk. It is by far the best tasting protein/gainer I have ever tried. As far as results, with 3 shakes it is around an extra 1800 calories. It is very low in sugar and I can keep my bodyweight up when I am using it and it doen't make me 'fat' meaning that I stay pretty hard while taking it.

So, overall, it tastes awesome, is packed with calories, and it has never caused me to get a sloppy appearance like a lot of other gainers have. I highly recommend it.

Ryan,
don't be too hard on yourself. Calipers are always off a little they really are only reliable in showing change over time.

Thanks for the input guys. I've been out of the loop lately with supplements. Not enough time to do the research. I've bulked up before back in the day when N-large came out. Took up to 5 shakes of that a day and became the stay-puff marshmallow man (that and i could clear the hall in my dorm room). Looking to stay between 12 and 8% BF so a little more fat is no biggie for me because i can always lose it pretty easily. I have a pretty fast metabolism but it seems when i eat clean then my BF really starts to go down. So i think taking in more calories from shakes inbetween my meals will help offset that problem.

Main question is for those that use it, are you using it several times a day and if so what are the results?

I was planning on starting with two shakes of muscle milk in addition to my post-workout shake and then 4 meals ( around 4200 - 4500 calories) and then moniter my BF and weight and adjust accordingly. Thanks for everyone's input.

teh results are what you make of them. It is nothing more than an increased amount of protein in your diet. Intake more calories than you need and you gain weight. Decrease your caloric intake and use the shake as a meal or a way to get in protein while in caloric defecit and you will loose weight.

Jason, Why don't you come to me for advice???
Oh yeah, because I'm smaller AND fatter

I'm in the same boat you are with "making time" to eat meals. That's why I always blend a couple shakes, add some ice cubes to stay cold, and take them to work in my cooler...along with other foods as well.

Haven't you noticed a trend? Every time we train you say "We gotta go cuz I'm hungry". But, I'm not because I always have a shake with me. Maybe I'll make an extra shake and bring it for ya saturday!!

My little brother Sam (6'4" 255 lbs) has been drinking two muscle milk shakes a day for the past month and put on 10 pounds. He has been taking Vitargo CGL creatine also, so I don't know if it was the Muscle Milk or not. He does have a hard time gaining weight and was in the 240 range for a couple of years, so a 10 pound gain is awesome for him. I may try it soon, but I don't know how much bigger I want to get, since I am already 330 pounds. Ha ha :BP:

Either way, it's not like buying a car. If it doesn't work, don't use it anymore.

Cookies and Cream is my favorite. Supplement it with Cytomax too. Works awesome, especially the Extreme Orange flavor. Its got some ginseng mixed in for extra kick. They started to sell Cytomax RTDs lately, and I've been able to buy them from a local grocery store for $1 per bottle.

Howver, if you buy the powdered Cytomax, that is cheaper. I used to buy it from Affordable Supplements in Kansas, and they would give you free UPS Ground shipping if you bought over $75.

I've been buying my Muscle Milk for $21 per bottle at the Ballys I work at, sometimes $19 per bottle when they let us have a 35% employee discount.

I typically pay $20 at the gym I work at. I pretty well get it wholesale. I may just pick some up this weekend.

Aaron,
10 lbs in a month is pretty fast gain for your brother. I have the chocolate milk and it of course taste great and doesn't seem to catch as much air as other gainers. We all know what happens when we have to many shakes in one day.

Grant,
thanks for the info. I will have to try the cytomax and see what i think. I get a container of Muscle milk for about 22 bucks which really isn't that bad. Thinking of trying to get my gym to order it so i can get a bulk price since 2.5lbs is the biggest container I've seen.

everyone else thanks for the replies it's greatly appreciated.

Yeah, after reading the last post I also wanted to say that Muscle Milk doesn't catch as much air as other gainers. I drink 2-3 of them a day and I never have any stomach issues with it.

A muscleMag store around me sells it for $19.95 and another store close-by sells it for $24.95. Vitamin World and GNC have it for $39.95, lol.

:YT:

That's something I don't understand. I see Muscle Milk selling for as high as 42 bucks in some places, and as low as 19.95 at others - and this is just going through the online prices... all for the 2.48lb containers.

I love the stuff. Even when it is cheap however, it is still pricey compared to bulk products. I appreciate the science behind it, I am just forced to fill up on Regular Unleaded (unflavored wpc) vs. Ultra Premium (muscle milk) at the moment.

Yeah, I spend $80-$100 a month on Muscle Milk....at 2-3 shakes a day, the 2.48lber never lasts me more than a week at the most.

About 8 months ago I made committment to eat clean. I still eat BIG, just big and clean, and it is so hard to keep my calories and bodyweight up eating clean. I love my new body composition and the way I feel and perform, but it is so much harder to get my calories in and so much more expensive than bulking up on Big Macs and Fries and ice cream, lol.

We have Muscle Milk priced for $35 per container at the gym, but it's basically negotiable depending on the circumstances. I'd say most of them go for no more than $30.

So I assume you guys take two scoops at a time? I just picked some more up today and have decided that I'll be taking a serving once in the morning and once before bed, both with milk. I'll continue with whey and gatorade for post-workout since it's a faster digesting mix. I actually may mix a little bit of my whey with my morning MM shake just to give it a bit more protein. Of course I'll be eating tons of food as well. :)

Yeah it's easier to bulk up by cheating, but since I've started eating clean it seems a lot easier to get my intake of protein. Every meal I eat has a mix probably 40/60 of protein/carbs. I try to keep fat and cholesterol down, but that's all I watch for the most part. It just seems easier to eat clean for me now that I have my diet figured out. It seems like I'm always looking forward to my next meal. haha

Yeah, I make two scoop shakes. I have one in the morning, one as a snack in the middle of the day between lunch and my pre-workout meal, some days I have another one around 11PM right before bed.

I do also honestly like the cleaner eating....I don't feel so weighted down and sluggish, and my blood sugar stays stable and I don't have those times when I feel like I'm gonna crash. Like you said, the cholesterol benefits are good too, I'm 26 now and I don't want to develop problems when I reach middle age from years and years of eating crap, sugar, and processed foods. If I didn't workout and was just an average sized person and just ate in moderation I wouldn't be overly concerned, but at 4500-6000 calories a day, I want to make sure that the vast majority of them are made up of quality foods.
