Jimmy h. Suggested to me that we should have a race to a 300 push press or perhaps 315. Either way I thinks a great idea. Soooo who's in? Push press only! No jerk.

i'm down.

Currently my press is down from where it once was, but i'm almost back. I would think that I'm good for 235 or so right now @ a body weight of 208'ish, but my press is starting to feel better.

6 months ago when i was 235'ish, i hit 275, and 225 for 7.

Ok here's the list

Billy Wolt 235#
Gabriel Wells 245#

I'd be in but I may be over it already. I just don't know, and I won't be able to test it until late July probably.

I am in...I think. You just need to tell me exactly what a push press is and is not. I have done 275 ish on OHP. I will got 300 soon!!

Barbell, log, or axle? Clean from the floor?
I think it should just keep going. Sort of like the deadlift threads. Somewhere to post a good milestone.

(I guess I'll put my money where my mouth is) If we can make it log or axle from the floor, I'm in.

Just to clarify... no re-bend?

...cool thread Gabe.

Edit: 12" log??????

I'll hit 300lbs either next week or the week after.... nailed 285 and 290 yesterday, 300 was a close miss.

Idk if it will be a jerk or a pp.... I personally dont care how it gets up, just as long as I have the weight locked out over my head ill be happy.

Mike Landrich

I should be about 240 or so on barbell, axle or log, so I'm in.

I would say a 300lbs axle from the rack, since cleaning 300lbs is a whole different story in itself...Or we can just say hell with it and do a 300lbs c&p w/ axle..I am coming into this with a 255lbs (or so) push press from the rack as my PR..so i got alot of road to travel ahead of me..

what do you guys think? are we going to allow to belts and wraps?

p.s. - thanks for starting this Gabriel :D

Just my $0.02 here... if we can't take it from the floor then, well... This is "strongman", not "gym man."

Ok, enough with the purist Rederic.

I'd say belt and wraps good.

Well... since there are so many variations... i'd say just post what ever you're first goal is. Then every goal after that.
Tell you right now... i would reach 300lbs MUCH quicker with an axle press from rack than a 12" log clean and press.

I would think that belts and wraps would be kosher. I wouldn't expect someone to attempt a max squat without knee and back support.

Ok so can someone outline the rules, because I am new to strongman.

rack or floor
axle or barbell
push press, strict press, or jerk...lol

anything else to add?

is 300 to easy of a goal? should we raise it to 315 or higher?

I'll try to get a 300 axle out of the rack. One day...one day.

300lbs is enough to make things intense on my end!

I vote 300lbs axle c&p (wraps ok), since it seems like 300lbs out of the rack may be way too close for some people to make this interesting enough for the rest of us....if we include the clean portion it might put us all on a more even playing field :EL:

Billy Wolt
05-14-2008, 09:40 PM
jimmy..

for the people that 300 is too close for, they can start a race for 400 :D

Scott Markowitz

On a straight bar (or axle, or anything else that resembles these) I am out if the clean is included. Due to an old injury, my wrist can't handle any sort of catch like that. With straight bars, anything over 200 or so has to be done out of a rack or not at all.

I'm in. I haven't been training much but I figure a few singles a week is doable.

My PT says overhead lifting puts me at risk of tearing my supraspinatus until I fix my flexibility and subscap issues, so it'll be a while for me, but I've hit 275 relatively easily a few times in the past and my triceps and legs are stronger now than they were then. Once I get the green light to press again I'll make my push for 300+. Consider me in, even though I'll be watching for a while.

i'd say 315.... 3 plates is a nice round number

i'm up for going for a 300 axle clean & press

Gabriel Wells

maybe we should separate the contest, C&P and Push Press? I think it would be more interesting and there are two playing fields.

Man, you guys are awufully picky.

You can be sure that if I ever am fourtunate enough to put 300+ overhead ANYHOW, I will post it up for sure. Jerk, press, single/double/triple/quadruple knee bend, shoot, I won't give a hoot.

Shoot, you guys must be beasts if you're worried about what kind of bar, clean, wraps......who gives a flying crud??? 300 overhead is legit, no matter how you do it. Esp. for "lighter" guys.

I have been to alot of contests, and for all the huge internet pressers out there, 300 overheads are still not all that common. Esp. in a medley, or when it's not the first event. (No offense to the big heavies, I know alot of big dudes are doing it, but, like I said, I don't see it all the time).

Good luck to any/everyone. And, believe me, when you post up your vid of a 300 axle, bar, log, block, stone, sandbag, safe, yoke whatever, I will damn well be impressed.

see ya

im down for the a 300# Axle C&P. Ive done 315 standard barbell PP/jerk(it went over head is all I care). Most I have cleaned with an axle using standard plates is 275, but was not even close to pressing it.

Yeah Mark I agree. My first 300 axle will be from the racks, then hopefully the clean.

Mark you should be in on this, you are much better then me at overheads.

com'n guys...the man started the thread saying 300 (or315 push press), and now you guys are saying axle, clean and press, jerks, etc....

i didn't see this with the deadlift thread...lets make a straps + hitching +18"...

LOL.

just do a 300 (or 315) push press :)

also, the original poster said he didn't have access to an axle.

if its a 300lb push press im in.... would prefer it to be a axel or log but will be in either way.. would do a clean and press but still battling the lower back... pressing is ok.. most ive done pressing is 275lb oh..

should we seperate this? LW and HW? it would be at a big dissadvantage if someone weighed 210lbs compered to 350lbs...

eaither way ill be in, prob shoot for mid to end of summer?

what do u guy's think?

thoughts? suggestions? concern's?

let me know

I'd also be in for a seperate one for Axle or a normal bar clean and press. I think either one should be 315 clean and press since it is a round number. If you guys are down for the clean and press start it and I'll be in. Sorry to hijack this one.

I am in. 315 C&P with a barbell @ 231 lbs of body weight.
