As you can tell, American Gladiators finally premiered in NZ. Billboards all over Auckland advertising the show. Interestingly enough, most guys I've talked to think all the girls on the show are too 'butch', nevermind Hellga.

What I really want to happen on the first is for Kimbo Slice to get submitted. He is a beast, but I do not think he is a good first impression as a main event on a Broadcast channel's first prime time show. He actually justifies some people's idea that MMA is brutal and nothing but human rooster fighting. Most of the other fights should be competitive and entertaining.

You should stop living in the past. The Kimbo Slice of the YouTube street fights is long in the past. Kimbo has been training with Bas Rutten at Legends and is becoming pretty well rounded. According to Bas, he is one of the most respectful, kind people he's ever met and his kids absolutely adore him.

Sure, he's ugly and he's got the past of a street fighter, but that was the past. He's changed. I would call him a legit fighter and the perfect person to headline EliteXC's debut on network television.

Ray Mercer? Umm. he was a good boxer 15 years ago. He did not belong in the cage.
Tank Abbott? Well, umm, Tank never was great and basically a less skilled Kimbo anyways.

Kimbo has great head movement and fists of granite. I would just like to have someone else as the main event. I don't think that he is good long term for the MMA world. Get someone like Couture, Rich Franklin, Matt Hughes, Rampage, Anderson Silva, just someone with all around skills to headline the first prime time broadcast event.

I would never disrespect a legend like Bas Rutten, but maybe he is talking this guy up to help himself out. Just my opinion. If Kimbo proves me wrong, all the better, since I love combat sports.

I am just wondering if someone who voted me negatively on this post could tell me why. I thought I articulated my opinion well, and even gave some props to Kimbo. i.e the head movement.

I don't think Kimbo is a top 20 fighter by any means. My point was that he is making a very serious effort to become a legit fighter. The fact that he is somewhat known and has a great personality is why I said he was great for the card. He's not the best fighter, but he's a great draw.

Ideally, EliteXC would be able to sign Fedor and have him fight Randy. It would be just like Rocky vs Drago, and would probably be the most anticipated, most hyped fight in MMA history.

I know I risk falling in the red here since so many apparently like Kimbo Slice. I just wanted to point out that someone out there agrees with me as to why I don't like Kimbo headlining this weekend.
