You often hear that strongmen tear their biceps during tire flips, stones and heavy deadlifts with mixed grip..

Well, I know there is a group of strongmen who say that direct bicepswork isnīt necessary and could actually cause overtraining of the biceps muscle that can lead to a biceps tear.

And there is the other group who say that you need to strengthen your biceps as much as each other muscle and claim that direct bicepswork (curls etc) is absolutely a must..

What do you all have to say about this..?

Please discuss..

I was lucky enough to ask quite a few people involved in strongman at the Arnold Classic this past year as I had media passes and conducted some awesome on the record interviews as well as a lot of off the record chat. From the group of people I talked to in the course of the day, it was almost unanamous that the athletes felt that direct bicep work not really neccessary and some did go as far as saying that direct work often will lead to overtraining for that muscle group.

On a side note, does anyone know how Kevin Nee is holding up from his bicep injury?
