I just started doing this myself will compete in my first highland games in two weeks. I found a group of guys that train together on the weekends and have all the equipment. They were very helpful in teaching me how to do it.

the cambell game is a fun one,

Pointers:

enter as a c class, bring lots of water, wear lots and lots of sunscreen, and don't worry about winning or losing, as the C class is all about people that are just starting.

did i mention to wear lots of sunscreen?

oh yeah, get a kilt:

stillwaterkilts.com

the least expensive place to get kilts

With a throwing/ t&f background, you are a step ahead.

We have been thinking about trying Highlands for a couple of years now....just never got around to actually hooking up with someone and learning how to throw.

Post up on the Power and Bulk board Highlands section. We found a couple of real helpful guys there from the CA area who were willing to let us come out and learn. And...the NASGA has a newbie section too where guys post up.

good luck and let us know....we's love to try to....might be too late for us old guys for this season, but next year...

see ya
