From IFSAstrongman.com:

"Nathan Jones today sounded the opening bell for the 2005 Strongman season by issuing a poetic, partly tongue-in-cheek, partly serious challenge to his fellow Strongmen. Nathan, an IFSA Strongman Pro-athlete with an impressive 6-foot-11 (210 cm) / 350lbs (160kg) frame and recent movie fame fighting Brad Pitt in ''Troy'', announced from Australia:

''To some this is simply a GAME, to us, my comrades and I, this is the Art of war. The survival of the strongest, fittest and most intelligent is ensured. Singularly we are force to be reckoned with, a force only a few are willing, or stupid enough to challenge. In a war only one side can emerge victorious, and I, the great warrior I am, are here to ensure this. I myself with all the might and power I possess, will compete, until there is only one victor. In my relentless pursuit of glorious victory, I will out move them, out think them, out fight them, guaranteeing for those who are willing to challenge me in this hunt for glory, little chance of survival. This will be a most formidable task, therefore, making it a most glorious victory.

I am Nathan Jones and I am the new measuring stick of the world of Strongman. Have come halfway across the world to be the next Strongman world champion. Superstar! I've met some of your so called Strongmen, and what do I see in their eyes, fear, fear of me, and they are right to fear me, for I am 6ft 11'' on the slack, 350lbs of bone crushing terror. So they should fear me for I am the most magnificent specimen of a human being ever to be born, and you and your Strongmen have grown weak, making me realize that it is my destiny to be the next CEO of your corporation, and just like the dinosaurs you will become extinct. Not Samuelsson, not even you Vasyl Virastyuk will stand in my way, if you try I will crush you, I will crush you all where you stand, like the insects you are, and I, and I alone, will rule the world renown IFSA Strongman!

With Fire and Steel the Gods have forged my warrior heart. So fiercely does it beat, so loud is the sound that all will know that the strongest man in the entire world has been bought forth before you today.

Do you tremble and quake with fear at the approach of this match between us, hoping to talk your way out of it like a pathetic coward? Or do you hear the cry of the warrior calling you to fight, calling you to glory.............''

Is this the same Nathan Jones that tried his hand in the WWE a while back?

If so, it seems as if he's blurred the lines between wrasslin and strongman.

Yeah Ben, he's the WWE guy. He made it to WSM awhile back, but I don't remember what year. He broke his arm armwrestling Magnus Samuelson.

He broke his arm armwrestling Magnus Samuelson.

Pfft. Ha. Haha. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
And he thinks he's going to crush the souls of these mortals?

Not to rip on the guy, but whenever people go getting all arrogant like this, it makes me NOT root for them. As soon as IFSA starts choreographing the contests like they do in the WWE, this type of drivel will have a place.

I always remember him throwing a fit after the log press(I think)in one of the older WSM competitions.I hope he ends up coming back and showing what hes got,but we'll see.His statements sounded WWE cheesy, but that could be good.We need more lively competitors. This gets the general publics attention

well that was a nice speech, hope no one mistook him for being cocky or arrogant(j/k). Hope he can beack his rhetoric up with the strength of a champion cause if he can't then he either needs to go to the WWE or go into something else where being cocky is the norm. He should be humble not cocky.

I actually met Nathan a couple years back, and he is one weird MFr. He is pretty damn big, but not particularly strong or intelligent for that matter; I imagine his publicist wrote all of that crap for him. In any event, he sucked in the real sport of Strongman and he sucked in the fake sport of wrestling. Don't think Ill take him too seriously if he comes back.

I watched some of the shows the year Magnus broke his arm, including the match when that happened. He was FAR from impressive in any of the events OTHER than the arm wrestling. *LOL*

He was out muscled and out classed by the rest of the competitors.

That little speech has got to be a joke, cause if it isn't, he has forgotten what happened.....

YAWN. Man do I hate this kind of crap. Yeah yeah, you'll beat everybody if and when you compete. And if I was Donovan McNabb I would have thrown to that open reciever and won the superbowl. Gimme a break.
