Having missed the regional qualifier this is the next nearest one to me, UK Wales Strongest Man Novice qualifier:

This gives me just two weeks to train for it!!!

Here are the events and in brackets what I'm doing in training.

Events:
• 90kg Farmers walk each hand 25m course for distance (I'm doing over 100 k each hand in training)
• Vehicle Lift – on frame, as many lifts in 70secs. (not sure of this but its got to be do-able if its just a novice contest)

• 85Kg Steel Log Lift – as many overhead lifts in 70secs, head-to head. (I'm doing this in training)

• Crucifix hold 12kg each hand longest time wins (not sure as not really done this event)

• 90kg Barrel carried 10m then drag 200kg anchor and chine 15m fastest time wins

• Hand over hand car pull usually a small SUV

What do you think? Should I give it a bash or is it too short notice? I feel fairly competent but not sure if its too short a time to prepare....?????

I chatted over with my brother and he's advised me against it, as i've only just gotten over a serious bout of gastroenteritis, plus as I work full time as bouncer it looks like I can't get the saturday night off before the comp and I don't want to do my first comp on four hours sleep. So it looks like I'll have to wait till a little while longer to test myself in comp..

Never mind..
