the Dark Knight was absolutely unreal. The Joker couldnt have been any better, it was played out absolutely perfect. This new batman series might be the best superhero series ever too, even though as a kid i hated DC and loved Marvel. The whole dark, realistic twist on this is amazing. What did u guys think????

i honestly couldnt agree more about heath ledger's performance as the joker....

the entire movie was great....two & half hours flew by

but ledger's performance was one of the best i have seen on the big screen in quite some time.....sad that, among other things, we will not be able to see another performance

if you haven't yet, defintely go check it out when you can

just saw it today and it was awesome . Heath Ledger has put on one of the greatest screen performances in a long time . The movie itsself was more than expected and the joker was awesome . very phsychotic and twisted ,not in a gross blood and gore type way but in a phsycological human behavior way . very good, makes you think abit .

I've seen it twice already. Great movie. And i think Ledger would be getting all this praise even if he didn't die. It's really just an awesome performance.

I've never been much of a superhero fan, hating the spiderman series which I somehow managed to watch in it's entirety. I liked the first Hulk film, which most thought was terrible. Never cared much for the Superman movies, X-men, etc etc.

Though I thought Christian Bale was brilliant in Batman Begins. That this movie is apparently better, means I can't wait to watch it.

Oh, and Prince Caspian about put me to sleep. Though some of the teens sitting next to me were getting excited by the now older Susan.

I probably shouldn't ask this, but I mean well. Is it possible for Ledger to be nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar for his role? Reviews point to the performance being of that standard.

He will receive the nomination considering the judges are evaluating the performance and not the man. If Heath Ledger does win then someone will accept the Oscar on his behalf.

When I first head Heath may be getting an Oscar nomination, I initially wasn't pleased as I figured it was just the "honor the dead guy more than he's worth" thing. I was wrong. Heath not only deserves the nomination, but he deserves the award.

Was anyone else wondering how they crammed so much awesome into 1 movie?

Wife and I just saw it last night, awesome. I don't go to the movies much for the 20-30 min of previews but this was well worth it.

I just saw the movie last night. Heath Ledger's performance was crazy! I would have liked it better if people wouldn't have felt the need to yell at the screen, talk to each other, try to figure out other things in their lives, cop attitudes, etc... God, I HATE going to the theater! But, it was worth the torment of rude people for Ledger's performance. Can't wait to re-watch the movie at home.

Heath completly blew away Jack Nicholson's Joker away! Completly dark and twisted!! Great movie!! Having collected comics as a kid, I left feeling like the jokers true character finally showed through on the silver screen. I also got totally fired up to see the previews for the Watchman!! If you have no idea what it is go get the graphic novel! You won't be disappionted. Roarshack is the best!

Being one of only 6 people on this forum to even acknowledge his untimely passing in January, I consider myself a fan of Heath Ledger.

http://www.marunde-muscle.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10831

He was wonderful as the Joker, as he was in all his roles. He actually became the characters he played.

The film itself was long, drawn out, and boring at times. The action sequences are very clouded and it is difficult to tell what was going on. None of the villians were scary or believable with the exception of the Joker.

The movie aimed to take the comic book genre into the realm of realism and possibility. Ahhh, the type of realism that would have us believe that a 180 pound unarmed Batman is going to walk into a Nightclub, beat up ten guys and walk out with a crime boss. Or, the utter realism of Harvey Dent's wounds.

I was also a bit disappointed Gotham transformed from a semi-realistic, artistic, comic book inspired city complete with the Wayne-Tram as we saw in Batman Begins, and turned it into simply modern day Chicago.

I think the film was trying to be a little bit of Michael Mann's Heat and Silence of the Lambs rolled up into one. Striving to be so much more than it should be, succeeding at times but failing at others. I sensed the other people in the theater really wanted to like the film but found themselves just as edgy and longing for the ending as I after the 2:45 running time (including previews).

I liked it, it was good, not great. The best of the mostly terrible Batman films? Maybe for some. I'd say Batman Begins was more my speed, even though I wanted this one to be. I will watch it again. Heath gets my nod as best Batman Villian ever. This new franchise is still by far the best portrayal of Batman, I was just hoping for something a bit different in this film. Still, I liked it, nonetheless.

I think Steve has it about right. I'm not in a hurry to see it again, but I didn't ask for a refund either. The movie did drag a bit, especially toward the end.

That said, I think Ledger played a great Joker. This was my favorite role of his since The Patriot. (Then again, I don't think I saw anything in between.)

I did like this one better than the first set of Batman movies - those were *way* too much like the cheesy tv show. But it didn't live up to "Batman Begins" IMO.

I never got into comic books or their movies, and I hated the Spiderman movies and the other recent superhero ones (though I heard IronMan was good but didn't see it yet). And I also thought that people were likely overhyping Ledger because he died. I've seen a few of his movies and didn't really think of him as talented enough to warrant the hype. I tend to dislike things that get way overhyped and fully expected to be disappointed.

And then I saw the movie... and.... wow. Absolutely worth the hype. He was incredible. And the movie itself was great from start to finish, even for a non-comic fan. I loved it. Can't wait to see it on an IMAX screen in a few weeks (instead of from the 2nd row with my neck craned the whole time... my neck and back are both still feeling it today from that uncomfortable seat for 2.5 hours).

I'll be picking up Batman Begins on DVD on my way back from the gym tonight too so I can watch that. I guess I should've done that a week ago, but I wasn't quite as motivated as I am now.

I saw it the other day and thought it was good. It was definitely a long movie but it kept my interest the whole time.

My suggestion....... Go see a later show. I went before work to the 440pm show and had a group of little kids sitting in the row behind me..... enough said!

I would also like to say thanks to everyone for letting me know how long this movie was! I brought my uniform for work with me just incase the movie got out late, and if I didnt I wouldnt have made it in on time! thanks

I just snuck out and watched this this afternoon. The movie was decent but not great.

The Joker on the other hand was frickin awesome. The whole "Agent of chaos" thing they had going with the joker kicked butt. I really liked the dark twist on the character.

I thought this movie was pretty darn good....I think it would've been even better had they left two face out, just ended the movie with Dent in the hospital with half his face covered. This would have cut the length down and just hint at another movie like they did with Begins.

I watched it yesterday and I'd totally like to see it again.

Though I was confused as to what the plan would be in adding more Batman movies going forward. The question of what happened/happens to the Joker was definitely on my mind.

Anyone know what the plan would be with the franchise going forward?

BTW... the musical score was brilliant, IMO. Classical yet contemporary.

i'm guessing it would be omitting the joker from future movies. I have heard that the riddler is rumored for the next movie. Looks like they'll focus on batman as the villain as well.

im not a fan of the new batman movies they are entertaining though and Bale does a great job with batman.

The first two batman's with Michael keaton were the best and always will be. Tim burton Got the gothom city style down pat. Something the newer ones lack. I choose not to talk about the ones in between with val kilmer and Mr clooooooony. Although arnold did play a great mr freeze lol.

Anyway New batmans are worth the ticket price but are lacking quite a bit in my view. I think its a great way to introduce something for new generations that we all enjoyed growing up.

Heard they are looking to Angelina Jolie as the Cat Woman. I'm not an Angelina fan but she would make a perfect Cat Woman

I agree with you regarding Keaton's performance, he was incredible. The bat suit in that movie is still my favorite.

Burton's ambiance of Gotham was ruined for me when Vicky Vale pulled up to the Wayne mansion in a Chevy Citation.
Other silly recollections include, but are not limited to:

How batman made the Joker by dropping him in acid (which just created white skin and a perfect smile) and the joker just happened to be the guy who killed his parents...

Or how the Joker downed the "bat Jet" with one shot of his revolver

Or how he scorched a guy to the bone with only a buzzer but his suit was still on in perfect shape......dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.......

I left the theater as a 15 year old wondering why I had just spent my paper route money on it.

The new batman films try to portray a more "believable" batman.....but fall short. After all , batman is just a regular guy, the parallels to realism, however, end there.

I agree that the older batmans have alot of sight gags that only happen in comic book world but thats Part of the batman experience its a made up loony toon world not suppose to be realistic, hell batman is flying off buildings with his magical bat cape lol.

AND the joker's revolver had like a 3foot barrel and was a .50 cal its semi maybe if the shot was perfect possible LOL. I like to pretend it was a special made .50 cal sniper rifle like you see today ;)

cat woman would make sense for the next movie. Every Hollywood movie needs some love interest, so catwoman, or they need to introduce another woman.

When they are talking about the new armor, and Christian Bale asks if it will protect him against dogs, Morgan Freeman says, even cats.

Spoiler Warning
They are also going to bring Two-Face back. His coin landed face side, meaning that he has another chance. Now they didn't let anyone know about what happened to Harvey Dent. The general public of Gotham knew that he went missing. Harvey Dent is dead, but Two Face lives.
