I've been using the Blue Heat Stuff I got from EFS and it's been good. But I'm looking for something strong(er).
What about the Hot Pink or the Equi-Block? Does anyone know how they differ from Blue Heat?
Got any suggestions? How about something from a farm supply store?
Thanks!

For what it's worth, I use Ice Man gel made by HealthTech laboratories.
It's marketed as a horse liniment, but I didn't let that stop me. Works alot better than anything I've used, got it from a vet store.

I've been using this stuff called China Gel lately and I like it better than others that I've tried (tiger balm, bengay, icy hot) http://www.chinagel.com/

This stuff is by far the hottest stuff I have ever used. It's a bit pricy though.

Ditto on the nicoflex, although I don't believe it's hotter than any of the horse liniments I've ever tried. The hottest thing I ever used was this stuff called Heet - it was like Satan himself peed on me. I didn't like that so I went back to my nicoflex.

Mick, give dmso a try, you can get it in roll on bottles, then prior to training load up on the tiger baum.

Olympic rub is good (olympicrub.com), but pricey at $17 per tube.
I bought a capsecian (sp) ointment from CVS...it was absolutely too hot.

I can't imagine anything stronger than Equi-block being tolerable. That said, a little bit of EB goes a LONG way. It's deceptive too, I really don't feel it until I start sweating.

Equi-block made my conditioning better....i refused to sit down between sets....seemed like if i kept moving i could better block out the pain! That stuff was hot!

I tried Heet one time too. That crap stays with you, too. For more than a couple of days after I applied it if I got in a hot shower or near the grill or any other source of direct heat it would light me on fire!

Sure Tight Liniment (does not smell bad either)
http://www.windgatesaddlery.com/p-552-sure-tight-liniment.aspx
cheaper here: http://www.premierproductsonline.com/page/PPO/PROD/31836
or plain old DMSO with or without aspirin dissolved in it (hate the bad breath though)

I just use Icy Hot from my local drug store. Works well enough. Never felt the need to go the whole horse liniment thing. Maybe in a few years. :D

Equiblock : Blue Heat as Nuclear Armaments : a Pea Shooter
I only use it if something HURTS. Not if it's stiff, or needs to be loosened up, or whatever. But do make sure you cover the area where you're applying it (wraps or sleeves) and that you intend to be sweating, wont do much otherwise

So, would Equi-Block in someone's jockstrap hurt more or less than Bengay?

To quote my unlucky teammate: AHHHHHHHHHH MY NUTS ARE ON FIRE!!!!!
If it weren't for Equiblock and my chiropractor, I wouldn't still be competing.

defintely going to pick up some equiblock for contest days per everyones suggestion...
is there anything you guys with nagging lower backs would typically recommend using on regular training days where the back may take an extra beating like deadlift or heavy squat days or even event training days? perhaps something more mild than equiblock?
thanks

ben gay and icy hot is analogous to a bic lighter while equiblock is analogous to a blow torch.
if you just want to feel a little better, either take a couple of aspirin or apply some icy hot.
if you want to mask excruciating pain, apply some equiblock.

The only warming rubs I have experience with are Muellergesic (for mild warmth) and Mueller Hot Stuff (for chemical burns).
The first time I tried Hot Stuff was after football practice in high school. My abs were killing me and a trainer suggested I put some of the HS on it. I naturally covered my whole torso with maybe a quarter of the tub. It burned so bad I sweated/cried. I hit the shower and that only made it worse. It took about half an hour of scrubbing with dish soap and a scrubber to get the heat down to a manageable level. Good times.

so, I was looking for DMSO, and I have no idea which place to buy it from, does anyone have a recommended vendor?
I have some mild arthritis that might be helped by it

Justin, if the drug stores don't have it you should be able to find it at any feed/tack store(pretty easy in Petaluma).
Years ago we tryed absorbine, it's ok but now Rickey has me hooked on equiblock.

Eric Cressey's Magnificent Mobility DVD. I dont think dynamic stretching is a cure all, but if your back is bad enough that you need something EVERY squat and deadlift workout, I would definitely advise looking into MM.
