Travis bought some Elite Tacky in the big jar for us to use while training and man, this stuff is several steps above the Rehband stuff. It's cold here now so the tacky took a while to set up properly, but once it did it was like the stones popped into my lap. It helped Travis nail a big PR - 320 stone to 53". I can't wait to get this stuff warmed up so that it goes on easier.
The problem we had was getting the stuff off. It is so sticky that it took two passes with WD40 to get it off. I kinda liked that when I was applying the tacky, it stuck to my skin so much that it hurt to unpeel my hand from my forearm. And it seems to last longer than the Rehband stuff.
Ostlund, we're on to you now. We know how you can load quarter ton stones! Everyone, go out and buy this stuff.

Oh and the best part is the price. Because it is SO sticky, it is best to use a lesser amount than you normally would. A thin layer on a worn stone gives unreal grip. It also comes in a large container. It lasts a long time.

Clay-
The easiest thing to do is put the jar of tack in a container (tupperware) with one of those hand warming pad things. Warms the tacky right up for ease of spreadability and max stick. Cold weather HG trick.

Hey Clay, you know what gets the tacky off better than anything? Goo Gone! You can get it at hardware stores in large spray bottles, or at places like Target. When you spray it on the stuff melts off.

Try Dissolve it spray. The stuff just wipes the tacky right off. It's too cold to use the Elite tacky out here in AZ, the stuff is like rock hard. We haven't tried to warm it up. I think it's too sticky and it picks up just about everything. The first time we used it though, everyone was saying how good it was and that your arms just stuck to the stone.

Vasoline, a good rag, and some running water - takes tacky off better than anything I have ever used... plus, it isn't exposing me to any degreaser solvents.
I have used goo gone, wd40, gojo (works better than most everything else), and pinetar remover for vehicle windshields. Vasoline and a wet, harsh washcloth, still works better.

Good old Mineral oil will take the tacky right off. Them wash your hands with soap of Goo gone and your done. Works great!

Too cold in AZ? You should come up to MN right now. It's 19 deg and we're just getting started. The tacky should be fine as long as you keep it indoors at room temp until you're ready to use it.
As for removal, baby oil still seems to work the best for me.

I guess I should explain.
In the summers, Rehband tacky would do basically nothing because it was 100 degrees out or hotter. I think the first time we tried Elite it was 90+ and I did notice it was better.
Now it is in the 70-80's when we train, which is too cold for Elite. Keeping it indoors would be the same temp as outdoors.
I might try heating it up next stone workout.

70-80 degrees should be absolutely perfect for it. We use it when it's a lot colder up here. Maybe it has something to do with the humidity. Who knows?

PAM cooking spray or any kind of non-stick spray takes it off pretty good as well.

Yesterday when we finished training it was 39 degrees and although the tacky was sticking, it took quite a bit to get it to warm it up.
I think part of the reason we had a difficult time getting the stuff off yesterday is because I didn't sweep the floor before we did stones like I usually do, so any dust and crap on the floor was picked up by the stones and then that dirt ended up on our hands.

So is sweeping the floor all you can do? Every time we do stones the tacky gets "used up" cause we pick up so much dust and dirt.
Now that the stones are outside I’m thinking of hosing everything down a few hours before GO time to try and keep the dust down. Ohhh,, I hate dust!.I'll kick its ass!~

Elite tacky works best in hot conditions to warm room temp because of its thickness. Dave & I did our testing in hot humid conditions this summer to try and come up with the stickist stuff we could that would still be applied to hands & arms without too much hassle.
Jack Tack (Rehband) is a little thinner which some people prefer and will work well at warm room Temp to cold room temp.
For cold temps the generic is a good alternative. It is similar in consistency to the old Molten product. It is attractively priced at close out below cost.
For extreme cold you are left with spray can stuff & good ole chalk!
Hope that helps!

I used the generic last Saturday and it worked well. Temps were around 55 degrees. I could see where the Elite would be hard to use in cold temps. That sh*t is like super glue. I don't think there is a comparison between Jack tack and Elite.

I don't know if this was a good idea or not but I stuck the elite tacky in the microwave and it worked beautifully in the cold once it was applied.

We have tried using it below 65 degrees and it wont even come out of the can. It breaks off like plastic. I guess that you could warm it up but it hardens so quickly that I dont even think that would work.

If my math is right 65 is somewhere around 16-17 degrees Celsius(sorry Canadian on metric) We used it colder than that for sure after we warmed it up in the aformetioned nuker. It may not work down into the 30's this way but we were using it below 60 maybe even 50.

I just keep mine in the house and then when I need it I take it outside.
