Very Important Question to All:

Who would win in a fight to the death, Link or Mario? I spoke to a friend today and his opinion was Link, hands down. But what would REALLY happen?

On one hand, Link would be the obvious choice because of his bad ass sword fighting power, the bow and arrow, the fact that he carries grenades, not to mention other ass-stomping weapons.

Mario, while being fat and often goofy, has the power to FLY (with that feather) and do that ass-stomping divebomb, leaving his enemy's poop in ruins. He has the fireball too and while simple, it's something that Link don't want up his ass either.

Any thoughts? I can not decide. And none of you better try to play it cool and pretend that you don't love Mario and Link. I'm not a video game addict but I love those guys.

I am going out on a limb here by answering this question.

Link would win because in The Ocarina of Time on the N64 when Link had to fight Ganondorf there were several key attacks that link had to block. Ganondorf had a fireball attack, same as Mario, which Link would deflect back to Ganondorf using the Master Sword. If Mario tries to back away as did Ganondorf you can use Link's Longshot to cover the gap quickly and then strike with the sword. You also have the use of Light, Fire, Ice and another arrow. The Hyrulian shield can also deflect or disperse flame attacks. Aerial attacks are also no problem with the use of your fairy and the Longshot. A simple jump will negate Mario's slam attack, again similar to Ganondorf's attack.

...I think i will go drink some milk and listen to Heavy Metal now to wash the geek away.

Even if Link deflected the fireball attack BACK to Mario, Mario's supreme dodging ability would save his ass. His jumping, running, squatting, and general speed and maneuvarability would serve him well. Don't forget, Mario can jump several times higher in the air than Link can. However, Light, Fire, and Arrows would be hard to avoid. But if MArio can avoid the thousand flying hammers of the Hammer Bros.( those bastards), some fire and ice couldn't be too much harder to deflect.

In regard to Mario's OFFENSE skills, Link could block one or two fireballs before having to jump or attack, but could he avoid a constant wave of fire nuts flying his way like we both know Mario could produce? And don't forget, in regard to flying, Mario could ride Yoshi and spit out tons of nasty crap at Link from lots of angles. I have to go with Link.....he just has too much shit....too many weapons, too many shields, too much magic......just too much in his arsenal for Mario to handle...Mario is good against guys with a one-dimensional offense, but Link has too many strengths. PLUS, you're overlooking the fact that Mario is dead after one or two hits (depending on if he is big or not)....Link may have 20-some hearts and take much longer to kill.

okay, now I feel gay after posting that....but I cannot pretend I don't love Mario and Link.
