View Full Version : I hate to do it but moderator verification is necessary for newly registered users...

The disclaimer that must be checked prior to registering for this board states very clearly that members must register with their real names. This board is awesome and totally free, and this is all that we ask of our members. However, folks don't seem to be reading the disclaiming or are ignoring it. So, though it is a pain in my neck, all newly attempted registrations will be accepted or denied by the forums moderators. For those of you that would have followed the rules, sorry to make you wait before you can make your first post.

I think it's a good call Jesse. I post on a good bit of forums and the best ones people post with their real names; it keeps trolls off the board, and you actually get to know people, not their nicknames.

Ryan, you are aware of the "trolling" phenomenom aren't you? While there don't seem to be any trolls on this board so far, it's just a matter of time before some will come to start trouble. All it takes is some snide comments about one of the strongman pros or harassing comments to the females on this board to mess things up.

I agree with Jesse, I think it is a good idea to use real names. People are more likely to be rude and obnoxious when hiding behind a nickname.

KJ, just add your real name to your signature. I'm not faulting anyone for not reading the disclaimer, I never read those things either.
The main reason that we post with real names is because we have pros on here using their real names and giving good advise and it is polite to them to except their advise face to face so to speak.
As for trolls. This forum has several moderators with editing and banning powers. If someone messes around it's a simple click of a button to erase it and ensure that they can't come back unless the register again. It's more of a pain in the neck for them then it is for us.

well forget the whole idea!!! Only the administrator (site owner) can give registration permission. There is no notification of newly registered members, I would have to log into the control panel and check it every day. There is no way I can keep up with that. So... I've altered the registration page with REGISTER YOUR REAL NAME so maybe more people will catch it. It will also help alot of every one will aid me by reminding people who miss it to put their real name as their signature.
thanks everyone!

I think using your real name will keep alot of the derelicts out of here. There's nothing worse than seeing a bunch of obnoxios crap posted all over a good board.

Jesse, just be leary if someone registers under the name RUSTY SHACKLEFORD (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.fanatick.biz/gribble/imgs/img-imga.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fanatick.biz/gribble/&h=315&w=164&sz=21&tbnid=ut5J5tQU8JIJ:&tbnh=111&tbnw=58&start=1&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddale%2Bgribble%26svnum%3D100%26hl%3De n%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN). They're probably hiding from the government.
