With any luck, I will end up in the northeast for my psychiatry training. Since I'm determined to make a career out of being a jock, I am probably joining the burgeoning field of exercise psychiatry. Problem is, I need collaborators, and am having trouble finding exercise science depts in the boston and new york areas. Help me!

Here is a link to all school with programs that meet education recognition guidelines recommended by the NSCA. This is a national list but you can also search state by state or just go though the national list.

I'm struggling to make a joke here about Nik's psych training. Probably something along the lines of "the pot calling the kettle black" or maybe better, "the blind leading the blind," but get back to me in a little bit and I may have somehting for you

Nik,
I know that Springfield College in western MA has a huge program for physical education/therapy, sports science, etc. My brother and his wife when there (she has her masters in PT from there). She teaches health/phys ed and is a sports trainer.
My cousin also went through a similar program at Bridgewater State College in southern MA. He manages the Greater Boston YMCA.
Good luck with your search!

sexy. Not a single one of the places I'm looking to train at has a good exercise science program. Awesome.

doesn't U-Conn have an exercise science or kinesology dept? Not boston, but it's pretty close.

yeah, issue is i'll be a psychiatrist first and a meathead second. I'm only looking at the really top programs in psychiatry. Luckily even though there aren't a whole lot of actual exercise phys/kinesiology PROGRAMS at those places, there are faculty with exercise science/kinesiology/exercise psychology degrees.

I have my degree in Exercise Science. I went to Southern Connecticut State University and I think they have a great program with awesome professors. I was required to take Kinesiology and I absolutely loved it. Good Luck and I am sure you will find a school that fits!

I graduated from Springfield College with an Applied Exercise Science degree. For exercise science its one of the best. They just built a new facility for A/T’s, P/T’s and Exercise Science that I heard was awesome! But Springfield does a great job preparing you for the CSCS and to be a strength Coach.
