I was a fan of his, but he kind of disappeared after 2003. Anybody know if he's still competing and what he's been up to?

I have a good friend in Hungary who talks to him often...I'll see if I can find out.

He's retired from competition but he's running the WSC now.

I really liked martin .. I think his africa stone carry from 2002? or 2003 was one of the more dominant performances in WSM history.. i chatted with him briefly at the WSC show in Ladysmith and asked him about a comeback and he said no.. he still looks in good shape and I figure he's probably 245-250 ish..

Yeah, that Africa stone carry was awesome! That gave me inspiration for my 600ft carry with the H. stone in Xenia, putting it back on the platform in Muhr-like fashion. ;)

Back in the WSC show in Edmonton in 2004, I got to chat Martin up quite a bit. He says he's quite happy about being retired. He's weighing in at about 210-220# and in his own words "nothing hurts, I feel athletic and I can buy clothes whereever I want to now". He also figured he was still good for a 300kg deadlift anytime he wanted it.

At this years world strongman cup in england, the one jesse competed in -Martin was in attendance and looked to be doing various things to do with the running of the show so he is definatly still involved in the sport...

Martin is the promoter of the Strongman World cup! He is a great promoter too!! We will be in Russia in a few weeks for his competition there.. To get acclimated to the cold (for Russia) I have been running around outside in my bikini!! haha
