S.O.B.!!! My belt got stolen from the gym earlier today. Anyway, that means im gonna have to buy a new one. So which one would you recommend for me. I previously owned a 2-prong 10 mm. belt.
Should I upgrade to a 13 mm. belt???
So which is better a 1-prong belt or a 2-prong belt???
Have any of you tried the Lever Belt. I've never used this, but it looks like it would break over time. So if any of you have used this belt, let me know if its good or not.
Has anyone tried the PR Belt. It looks pretty cool, but I don't wanna bite the bait. Let me know whats up with that one too.
Im trying to get the best belt available on the market, so let me know which one is superior to the others.
Thanks guys!!!

I love my lever belt. It has lasted forever. I prefer 10mm over 13. The 13 is just too stiff for me even for squatting and deadlifting. If you get a regular belt make sure it is only 1 prong. 2 prongs are a nightmare to pull tight and to get off. As far as brands, I have always worn Inzer belts and have been very happy with them.

I agree with Vincent. My Inzer 10mm lever has been great.

I have a 2 prong belt and have never had much problem getting it tight, off can be hard sometines. I have heard (never actually seen) 1 prong belts can break. My belt is wearing out (7 years old) and have considered a lever belt. Seems like it would be easer to get on and off.

I actually regret my 13mm lever belt. I only use it for yoke and farmers now, because it is really a "one size fits all" kind of belt. Now that I squat past parallel, I can't comfortably use it. I bought it back when I was a strongman newbie and figured "bigger is better" so I got the thickest belt with the coolest gadget (lever).
There are two main benefits to using the lever belt, one - you don't expend a lot of energy getting it tight, and two - when you are doing a medley like yoke + tireflip or something where you wouldn't use a belt, you can take it off quickly. But that being said, if you are in strongman you might need different kinds of support or tightness, and the lever is not very versatile for that.
If I could do it all over again, I'd get the 10mm economy belt from Inzer. Tom Mitchell got one and I think I've used his more than he has. It's inexpensive, sturdy, and the support is "just right".

I broke a two-prong valeo belt doing front squats. It was a buddies belt too, which kinda sucked.
I also broke one of my teeth on my Inzer lever belt. Called it in, they shipped me a replacement with a return shipping box for the broken lever. Had it replaced in two weeks.

I had an Inzer 10mm economy belt and wore it out after training for a couple of years. Decided to upgrade to a single prong 13mm APT belt and I really like the support that it gives me for yoke / squats / deadlifting.
Definitely go with a single prong or a lever, the double prong are tougher to get on and off - and the single is a larger prong so I don't think you would have any issues with bending / breaking one.
With brands I am torn a bit here, Inzer makes a good belt but they are expensive and their customer service is BAD (have purchased from them twice in the past and would not purchase from them again). APT's belts are similar quality but less cost and have outstanding customer service.
Would suggest something like this: http://www.prowriststraps.com/inc/sdetail/131190
Inzer only offers a single prong buckle on a 10mm on their website and it is $15 more than the APT.
If you decide to order from APT use the code PLWATCH when you check out and you'll get 15% off and a free pair of wrist wraps. So total price including shipping will be well under $50 plus you get something for free.

I have a 13mm dual prong belt and I'll agree, it is really a pain in the butt to get off. On isn't so much a problem. I ordered a Spud Inc 3 ply deadlift belt for my yoke/farmers and I actually really like it. Support is easily adjustable, the belt is comfortable, and my only concern (which has yet to come true) is that the velcro will wear out. http://www.southcarolinabarbell.com/salestemplate/newhome.asp?Category=2
Oh, and I borrow one of my training partner's lever belts from time to time. I actually like it, but he has a lot of problems with it popping open when he wears it. I've never had it happen to me... I think he is doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.

Thanks for the code. I'm gonna go check out their gear and compare it.

I have
10mm Dual Prong APT belt
Pro:
Flexible
Rugged
Does what it needs to do
Adjustable without using a screwdriver.
Does not dig into body while squatting/deadlifting
Cons:
Pain in the butt to put on and to take off.
Can't get it as tight as a lever would.
Can't feel the belt pushing back when you breath into your abs.
Great for events that requires you to bend down and pick something up i.e. stones, tires
13mm Lever Belt from Inzer
Pro:
Rugged
Can get it really tight on the flash.
Easy on, easy off.
You can push into the belt and really feel it bracing your abs.
Cons:
Stiff as hell, digs right into the body while squatting/deadlifting
Requires a screw driver to adjust it.
Lever construction is not completely stainless steel/galvanized. Breakable if forcefully dropped, hit or not properly installed.
Random people will pick it up and try it on themselves or to "take a closer look".
Great for static events, farmers, yoke

For under $50 you can get a great single prong from eliteFTS with free shipping until Thurs morning. I have one, and it's just as stout as my 13mm Inzer Lever, for half price.

I just got my belt from APT and I put it to the test this morning. I must say that I am very dissapointed!!! The belt looks chealy made. All I have to do is slightly twist the belt and I can see the layers coming apart. I wish I still had my Inzer belt. It looks as if they just threw some cheap glue on and pushed the layers together. Also, the tip of the belt (not the buckle side) is already starting to peel open, and i've only used it once.
I've heard nothing but good things about APT, but my experience leaves me unsatisfied. I would not recommend getting a belt from them. The only thing good I can say is that it was really cheap and had fast delivery. It only cost me $46.00 including shipping. But in the end, You Get What You Pay For!!! I wish I would have ordered from Inzer.

Ben,
Alan at APT is a stand up guy. He's been in business too long and has too good a reputation for selling crap. I've had limited personal dealings with him (mostly from him sponsoring events) but they've been uniformly positive, and I've never talked to anyone who did not have a positive experience (including both strongman guys and powerlifters, some who post here and some who've never heard of this place).
If you have a problem with one of his products, I suggest you email (APT@ProWristStraps.com) or call him (888-236-1258). I'm sure he'd be willing to fix whatever situation you have - he has the reputation he has for good reason.
