I probaly asked this question a while back but never ended up buying one. So I thought I would post it again to get up to date info.

ANyone have any DL suit suggestions? I was thinking about going with the Inzer Max DL...

Gotta love birthday presents :)

There is an article coming out in PowerliftingUSA about this next month.

Most people on the board seem to use Inzer Max DL, Metal King Pro, Inzer Fusion, or a Titan (don't know the model but Neuhaus has had good success with it).

The King Pro and the Fusion have adjustable straps which is cool because you can dial in the suit. If you keep an eye out on EliteFTS you can get deals on the metal gear sometimes.

I have a metal king pro but would only use it for a max pull, doesn't seem to help me on DL for reps. Probably because I don't use it enough though.

I love my Metal Pro Deadlifter. Thinking though about upgrading to the Metal King DLer

Metal pro deadlifter is IPF legal, and King isn't, right? What's the difference?

Kevin Cronin

Jono, htere is an IPF-legal version of the King. Someone asked the difference once between the ipf-legal version and the pro and apparently the IPF does not allow that shade of black in deadlift suits. They have to be strict on that, otherwise its not fair to the old tyme lifters.

... ok, seriously apparently there is a stitch on on the front of the king pro's leg that is not allowed. Also, and I could be wrong on this, I dont think the ipf allows velcro straps on suits, if you want to tighten them up you have to stitch or twist them

Matt, I used to use the Inzer Max DL untill John sent me a Fusion DLer about 18 months ago. Thats the suit I pulled 880 in early this year before the Arnold (The one Kevan Cronin posted up on youtube), the 870 at MSG, the car DL at WSM for 10 reps and a triple with 805 this past week. I'm a big fan of the suit but its gives less then most suits. After a few sessions it should be snug but not too tight, I can pull down the shoulder straps myself. The suit is a single ply but has about half the stretch of the Max DLer. Also, the suit is quit uncomfortable, I always end up with hicky looking abrasions on the inside of my thighs.

Haven't heard anything but good remarks about the Fusion. Normally comes in single ply, but on IronGladiators for $30 more you can apparently get it in 2ply.

Of course you can't go wrong with the MaxDL. Think thats what Bolton set the WR with.

My Titan suit gives me the "inner thigh hickies".

I don't know as much about suit as I wish I did.

Off topic, you guys should check out my signature line. Heh...

Thanks for all of the advice... My thing is, im probaly going to be attempting to put the suit on by myself.... Which from I hear is not going to be an easy feat. Every now and then at TPS i'll notice somebody will be having trouble squeezing into a suit with 2 ppl helping which doesnt make me feel excited about trying it alone.

Sounds like the inzer max and fusion are good bets... Also the Titan that Paul uses. Curious to know from you guys how much difficulty do you guys run into when you put the suit on? What do you wear under the suit??

Thanks

Metal Pro Line is mostly Dbl-Ply. IPF is only single ply.

Microfiber shorts.

I like to have 2 people help, otherwise I'm exhausted by the time I get it on if I do it myself.

Matt, the one thing you might want to consider when looking at deadlift suits goes along with your other post about trying to go from a LW to a HW. If you get a suit at Christmas time and then bulk up from like 240 to 280-290 you will need a new suit fairly quickly. So, I'd look at your overall plan and see when you are planning on hitting your max body weight and what it will be before looking at buying a suit. It would suck spending a $100+ and then having to get another suit a few month later due to weight gain.

Very good point, even a 10-15 lbs difference can be huge when you're talking about suits.

Back to your question about getting them on - I put on my Metal King Pro without any help and iti s no problem.

I did try to get on an Inzer Champion suit at the Northeast Beast and it took Glen Kaifus, Mike Gill, and Dave Beers all lifting me up in the air to get the suit on. After that I couldn't even get it off once the event was done... Lou Torres was dragging me around the grass by my legs trying to get the suit off and took a few minutes before I was finally free.

I use to have (got stolen) a Max DL. I loved it!!! I never had any problems with it, but I am currently looking at getting the Fusion. I heard that it is better when it comes to conventional, but I don't know if thats true. It is supposed to have more "kick" so I may be buying that soon.

As for getting them on. Like everyone else said, its hard as hell. You can get em on by yourself, but its a lot easier to have someone help you. If you go to a public gym like I do, your gonna be getting the "evil look" when your in the locker room fighting to get your suit on.

I now use a Metal King Pro and have no problem putting it on myself w/slippers.
Also, it's the most comfortable suit I've used- No bruised balls!

Matt, try turning your suit inside out. Put your legs through the leg openings then pull the suit up. You should be able to get it to your rear end, then reach behind your back, roll up some of the suit, andstart pulling it up. Once you get it as far as it will go, start pulling the legs up inch by inch. At this point the suit should be high enough up to have someone pull the back then the sides then the front up. Get it secure in the crotch or it's all for nothing.

I am soon going to order the metal king pro... i feel like the adjustable straps would be the best for me. I dont really do any powerlifting competitions however as far as strongman goes, I think the adjustable straps would be the most beneficial. With so many variations of the DL in strongman (side-handle hold for time, high picks, car for reps, and max from various heights) i can make sure that the suit is tight and at a "bottom" position that is right for that event.or a little looser on events for reps so that i can still breath.

You can get adjustable straps on a fusion.

Inzer apparently never updates their own site, but their distributors are usually up to date. Check irongladiators. Brent Mikesell, the former WR squat holder, owns it and from what I hear is absolutely awesome to buy stuff from.

2 advantages for me with velcro, 1)can adjust the suit tighter or looser based on the specifics of an event, like if it is a partial, for reps, max from floor etc, 2)if you dis-proportionate body, a non-velcro suit will have to be custom tailored, which takes extra time and money

edit: i can also put the velcro strapped suit on by myself, although it is a little tricky, but not bad

Most mortals don't have 36" thighs with a 24" waist.

I have the Metal King Pro DL'r and I really like it. It works great for the reasons you have stated and the adjustable straps are awesome. You can jack them as tight as you want or leave some slack depending on what you are doing.

so the velcro straps make it easier to put the suit on yourself? How does the straps work? Are they in the front part of the suit so it is easier to adust them or are they in the back?

They are the straps... not in the front or the back, just overlapping material that creats the shoulder straps when you velcro them together. You do this by fastening them while they are down and sliding your shoulders into them if you are training alone. If you have a training partner then you can have them adjust the straps while they are up on your shoulders.

The Metal King Pro is a suit that you can use alone and allows you flexibility to adjust it for each event. I am still trying to learn mine but Justin Blake and a few others have done some amazing things in theirs.

I bought the Metal Pro and just sent it back to get the King Pro with adjustable straps because my thighs are way bigger than any other part of my body. So if you have that problem make sure you get the King.

yeah im leaning right now towards either the metal king pro w/ velr straps or the inzer Fusion w/ velcro. The velcro sounds like it will make life a whole lot easier... Probaly going to end up picking which ever is the cheaper version of the 2, just because I gave my fiance the idea that it would only run around 150.00 or so..

ANyone know if the fitting sizes for the Inzer max DL on Inzer.com are the same for the inzer fusion?

http://www.irongladiators.com/index.cfm?page=inzer.cfm&content=fusion.cfm

Customer note: Sizing is going to be done by taking your hip measurement and using that for your size of suit. Lifters who like their suit moderately tight should go no more than their hip minus 4 or 5 inches for the suit size. Lifters who like their suits tighter should use hip minus 6. For extreme competiton fit, lifters should use hip minus 7 or 8.

Adding straps to the Inzer Fusion is another $25 custom alteration.

You tell that woman that your gonna buy whatever the "F" your gonna buy regardless of cost or the wedding is OFF!!! Then she will miss out on 50% of all the money your gonna make as a pro strongman and she will get to watch from afar as you laugh all the way to the bank with a Jamie Eason and her hot friend on each arm!

oh yeah and get the velcro!

HAHAHA... We were talking last night and she threatened me that she would nt buy my suit.. I easily came back with "good, Ill take the $250 from the gift you asked for and just by myself a better suit" haha

I would tell her that statement about not sharing all the money i win as a pro strongman but she'd probaly laugh at me :N:

Thanks Brandon for the irongladiators website... Im going to tell her to order it soon just incase it takes them a while to ship it

One more thing to consider: Learning the suit. Each suit has its own characteristics. You'll need help figuring it out, and if nobody else has pulled in that suit, their advice won't/may not apply to your specific issues!
