Hi all!

my name is Theo, i am from the Netherlands. Have been lurking here for a while, and had my first strong man comp yesterday. I was 3rd in the juniors, and 8th overall with a field of 19 competitors. I have been severely bitten by the strong man bug! :EL:

I train at Wout Zijlstra's.. Who is still record holder of the weight for height at 5.70m or something like that.

I am also certified on the #3 and have competed here in there in some grip contests.

Thanks for having me here, and hope to learn a lot here!

so you got the bug huh? feels good to be fired up doesn't it? That all out physical effort in front of spectators is as thrilling as jumping out of an airplane.

thanks for posting!

Jesse

Welcome Theo!
How is Wout? Is he all recovered from his "gardening accident" last year?

Welcome Theo. My brother-in-law and his wife lived in the Netherlands for about 5 years. He was stationed there, because he's in the US Air Force. They said it's the most beautiful place they've ever been to.

thanks for the welcome guys!

He had a small accident? Hmmm, interesting, i will ask him about it.. you competed against Wout?

The Netherlands is beautiful, everything goes, and i think it's the one and only country in the world that has so many different nationalities packed in such a small area..

Here's a small vid of me going at the stones.. 100kg, 110kg, 120kg and 140kg.. Just missed the 140kg :BB:

We've competed together for several years. He twisted his ankle (gardening!) a few days before the Highland Games World Championships last year - he still finished fairly well though, winning the WOB and caber. He's one of the most physically gifted athletes I've ever seen!

Yes, i think i remember you. Last time i was training at Wout, i took my grippers there, and showed a few #3 closes. Then they went on talking about a Canadian (?) named Dave brown (?) (Barron?) who had a very good grip too... Is that you, you got grip?

Welcome aboard, Theo!

I'm quite familiar with seeing you on the GripBoard over the past year or so, and it's good to know you're getting into strongman training as well. Hope you learn a lot from visiting here (I know I have!)

Ryan (aka VeGripper over at the GripBoard)
