I've always believed that Kaz is the greatest of all-time. However, I haven't engaged in such debates with people because we all have our favorites, and our own stats to back them up. So, I'm not posting this as a debate thread.
I was just informed today that Powerlifting USA did an article on the 10 greatest powerlifters of all time. Bill Kazmaier is listed among the top 10. Also worth mentioning is the fact that he's the only strongman on that coveted list! When you consider the fact that some of the greatest strongmen of all time have also been great PLers, you can't deny the fact that this is a great achievement. I'm gonna have to hit the book store soon to see if I can find this issue.

Haven't seen PL USA at the Barnes and Noble. Anyone know if Books-a-million carries it? I'm not mentioning Border's because I'm sure they do, but we don't have one where I live.

Well, I have a subscription and have had the latest issue for 3 weeks now and I'm not the only one complaining about it. Not to take away anything from any of the lifters mentioned, but usually when magazines do a top 10 list kind-of-thing, it is often because they are short material and need to fill it out for that issue. They even recycled an exact article called "The Making of a Powerlifting" from the month before. It is word for word the same article. The one in the August issue is on pg. 22 and so is the one in the October issue.
My hunch is that something is going on at PLUSA. I hope this isn't a sign of something. If they are having a rough spot, I hope they bounce back.
BTW, Kaz is indeed the best. I'm also very pleased that they decided to include Brad Gillingham on that list as well.

A bunch of us got to meet Kaz up in Maine for Elliot's competition Overcome II. It was pretty humbling to be standing with him and talking. This wasn't your typical meeting either. There was only about 10 of us at one time, later, only 5 of us. You could actually talk with him about anything and he was speaking directly to you. It was pretty intimidating until he busted out the pics of his little lap dogs. He's not much different than any body else you meet, he just has better stories and is alot stronger. What an experience thatks to Elliot! I think Kaz set another record that day, most lobster eaten in a sitting! I was afraid to grab one, didn't want to lose an arm.

I just went back and looked - WOW - I must have gone right past that article in the Sep. issue, because I just read it a week or two ago in the Oct. issue. The sad part is I enjoyed the Oct. article...
Are we sure it isn't a paid ad for Westside or AtLarge???

That one is definitely and ad, disguised as an article. It's been in at least 3 or 4 issues.

Paul, Kaz has been my favorite as well, but don't forget Reinhoudt, he won the 79' worlds strongest man after Wilhelm in 77,78. Also Kenady competed in strongman. I don't know how long Doyle(Kenady) competed.
Ashley posted a video of Kaz at the 83" Worlds in Sweden, if you look closely you will see Doyle and John Gamble(275lb world champion, strongman competitor as well) congratulating Kaz as he walks off the platform.

Oops! Let me rephrase that.... The only WSM title holder, who is also regarded as one of the top 10 PLers of all time.

Kaz is my favorite all time strength athlete, and probably the greatest strongman ever, but ranking him ahead of Reinhoudt in powerlifting is a stretch. Reinhoudt had 4 IPF titles to Kaz's 2, and Reinhoudt did 2420 in just a belt and wraps, while Kaz wore a squat suit to beat that total with a 2425. Again, just nit picking, but I would have reversed their placing of Kaz and Big Don.
