I need to get new 250# and a 350# (and soon a big 450) stone molds. Who'd got the best economical molds right now? Or is anybody local to Olympia (I'm in Aberdeen) looking to sell stones? That would tide me over for the mean time.

Thanks all.

My 255 stone was made using an 18" mold with a 30lb dumbbell sunk into the core. A 350 stone would need a 21" mold... although it would probably end up light unless you had concrete poured from a professional's truck and vibrated the stone as it cured.

Did you use Slaters molds Josh?

I have found they are very accurate. My 240 mold yielded 238 two times. My 335 mold came out to 330, another stone using a 8" foam insert came to 310 on the money and the rest of the stones I have made were spot on.

I just made a 18" mold with a 47 lb. lead insert so I will weigh it in a few weeks to see how close it is.

Where did you get your lead?

Also when you used the foam did you poor the concrete a little dry?

I ordered some lead inserts from Steve when I bought the molds. In the future, I'll probably just use standard 10 lb. plates.

I don't think I poured it any more dry than usual. It looks nearly identical to the 330. I did make a 18" mold with an 8" foam insert that came out to 210 instead of 220 but I think it came out light b/c it was too watery.
