SOrry for the off topic post but I have a a decision to make and I was wondering if I could get some input.
Right now I have 2 car options that I am considering. I currently have a 2001 F250 that is off the road. Ive been planning on putting it back on the road and can do so with-in a week or 2. ( but it needs alot of work) PRO's: I can make some extra money using the truck if im will to put the extra work into it. Cons: Gas will eventually increase again, and any extra money I make with the truck isnt a certain thing.
or
I found a 1994 V6 Camaro for $1,000. The thing has 200,000 miles on it and is suppidly "running perfect"... Who knows.. With winter just about here the camaro will be tuff, especially on the hill i live on. But it will keep me in a V6. PRO's: It will be the most fuel efficient option. I can sell my truck and possbly eliminate another debt I owe on something else. Con's: Its a 1994 that has 200k miles. I just moved to a new place on a hill.....

If it will about $1,000 (or less) to fix the truck I say go for it. Though the saying is "time is money", if it is your own time you put into the truck to fix it it seems a better alternative. Also you, which is going to offer better insurance premiums? Given winter, and the hill, I would say a V6 rear-wheel drive long bodied car will not handle a well as you may hope. Not to mention that GM engines are not known for their high-mileage reliability (atleast in cars). I would say fix the truck, tough out the winter, possibly put some extra cash in your pocket and see what happens in the spring. That is just where I would go, hope it helps.

fix the truck those camaros are a POS (esp in the v6 option) the posi trac on the camero will most likely blow the rearend trying to get up the hill. LOL! not to mention with 200k on a chevy motor you will be lookin at replacing the water pump, fuel pump, and more then likely the AC compresser along with the alternator.
It will end up blowing one of the above at some point soon so it will still cost to get fixed, trust me i know, My dad sells GM parts to uhaul and dealerships for a living, i can tell you what breaks the most and at what miles on every GM car :FF:
If you really want to get something new with better millage, find a 4x4 used tacoma or smaller ford ranger or chevy s10. the S10 post 96 with the v6 are great trucks Only problems were the water pumps and fuel pumps up till around 250k. Can be found for a little bit more then that camaro and get he same or better milage with a v6

Jeeps have horrible gas mileage if that is a concern for you (which you mentioned).
The standard Cherokees do typically last past 200K since they are a strait 6 engine, and parts are also very cheap on those.
What exactly is wrong with your F250? What is the year and mileage on that car? If you can sell it for around $1-2K then you might just be trading apples for apples, but I guess sometimes it is nice to get something different.
When it comes to getting a used high mile vehicle I would look for Honda. You can beat the heck out of a honda 4 cylinder and they last forever. Find an old civic or accord. I drove a 95 accord for a while and was a great car, only thing that broke were CV joints eventually and the muffler fell off somehow.
Brandon's advice on the S-10 is good as well if you want another truck, but a front wheel drive car does OK in the snow as well (drove my accord through 4+ inches on some occasions).

Living in an area that gets 200+ inches of snow per year, and living on a hill, I feel qualified to offer this advice. Get a 4WD truck or a front-wheel drive car and then spend the money on good snow tires, even with the 4WD. They'll cost $$ up front, but will make your all-season tires last that much longer and keep you out of a ditch in the meantime.
Otherwise, as has been said, Camaros are indeed pieces of junk and Jeeps (actually most Chrysler products) get terrible mileage, although they have great 4WD systems.

that truck can and will always be worth more than that camaro is..
on that note fix the truck..
I dont see how you guys are complaining that jeeps have bad gas milleage.. i average 20-23mpg with mine and its the 258 straight 6.....
they are tuff as nails and last forever if taken care of

We had 2 Jeep Cherokees at work with the straight 4 liters. Couldn't do better than 16mpg with either and it was all highway driving.

Do you really think you can live down owning a V6 model of a V8 sportscar........its the equivilant of driving a 10 second honda civic.....but its pink. ;p Stick with your truck, your a strongman, you can't put atlas stones and tires in a camaro anyway.

Hahaha. I would love to put my truck back on the road... But there aresome strings / circumstances that come along with the truck that i'd rather not get into. I did put 4 (used) but pretty good tires on it tonight, all it needs now is a jump and maybe 600.00 in repairs and its on the road.
i did make the owner of the camaro an offer ( depending on what my "car friends" think when we check it out ) of $850.
Who knows? Thanks for all of the advice.
