I live in Madison and I'm preparing for the Fox Cities Contest in April. Hoping to get some training sessions in with yoke, log, stones, tire, etc. Let me know where you're at and if you need a training partner once a week or every 2 weeks.

Not sure what groups there might be in the Madison area, but I know there are a few around Milwaukee that train together regularly (though, that's a hefty trek to make unless you don't mind the long drive).

I'm kind of out of the loop on who has groups training on weekends since I'm on event training hiatus for a long while, but hopefully someone else can chime in and get details for you. Definitely no shortage of Wisconsin strongmen around here since I see new people from our state getting on here all the time.

I train in Milwaukee, WI with my brothers. At the moment all of my equipment is stored in the garage for the winter. So when it gets warmer, your welcome to come train with us. Right now I keep my log and farmers handles at a local gym, but they've been complaining, so I don't know if I can keep them there much longer.

There's a gym in Madison called Ford's Gym. I haven't been there in a long time, so I don't know if its still the same. But I just called the owner about a week ago and he told me they still have all the equipment. From what I remember they have stones, log, farmers, yoke, and tires. I actually plan on driving there to train every Sunday until it gets warmer out, so maybe we can meet up there and train together if you'd like, let me know. Here's the website to the gym: fordsgym.com

Also, get ahold of Paul or Lesley on here. I don't know if they still visit this board anymore though. They train in the Milwaukee area, but I don't know if they're still doing it, I haven't talked to them in a while.

Isn't Jason Bergmann from WI? I don't know him, but it would be pretty cool to train with him.

And I was thinking about doing that comp. in Fox Cities. I don't know yet, I have a dodgey knee at the moment, the doc. told me to lay off it.

Do you know if Summerfest is going to be holding another comp. this year? If so, then im definitely gonna do that one. The only problem is that its an open weight class, which sucks for weak guys like me. Oh well, gotta love it!!!

The Brickyard Gym has a log and an axle. I train with Pete Konradt and Matt Wannet in Milwaukee. PM Pete and ask him about training. He has absolutely everything and its all in a boiler room of a factory so its nice and warm. And if you have any questions about nutrient timing Matt can help you because he is an expert.

If I'm not mistaken i think Wisconsin has the highest concentration of pro strongmen than any other state...Jason Bergmann..Luke Bergmann (pro?) (for that matter the whole Bergmann family)...Sam McMahon..Tony Scrivens...Handsome Pete..Matt Wanat...Carl Foemel, and just a short jaunt to Minnesota there's Dave Ostlund, and Karl Gillingham....no offense to you guys but how can you train in the same state as a couple guys that have been to worlds and some unbelievable athletes and not even know it?

You guys train in a boiler room of a factory? Would you guys mind if I come train there during these winter months? It would be a lot better than driving to Madison every week. But I must warn you ahead of time, im pretty weak! I recently tried to do farmers while it was snowing and I ended up taking a bad fall. Man, it sure would be nice to be in a heated factory.

I just tried to PM pete konradt, but it says "a security token is missing". Im not sure what that means, so do you have any other way I can contact him about training?

There's people all over in this state. You just gotta contact someone. If you're in Madison, Ford's Gym might be a good choice for you.

Good information.
I'll need a place to train over summer. I'd like to do the summerfest contest if they have it. Last year, I just did the deadlifting competition before the strongman.

I train at Fords in Madison. We got the stones ( 225-325) and a 12” log. We also have farmer’s handles and a 680 pound tire. We are working on a yoke. Come on down or send me a PM.

I keep them at the Rite Hite YMCA over on Green Bay Rd. Im prolly going to be removing them in the next couple weeks cuz the staff has been bothering me. I think im just going to get a membership at either Animal House or Brickyard Gym, I can't decide between the two right now.

Lesley, how's it going? I haven't talked to you guys in a while. You guys still train over at Roc's house? I've still been training every week, but im still pretty weak, although I have made some pretty good gains.
