Hey guys, I am just passing this info on just in case you have the same issue I have...
I have worn:
-Chucks
-OL Shoes
-New Balance
-Boots
-Cross Trainers
-etc...
...all for carries. My feet are flat. I have torn ligaments in my ankle from heavy carries. This has slowed me down big time. I bought a pair of Nike Air Flights and they work AWESOME! No more dying ankles and puny weight on carries. They look like these but are a high top:

Anyways, they may or may not work for you, but they are my shoe of choice now. Stability.

Thanks for the heads up man. Great find.
How much cushion do these have? It doesn't look like much, but they are basketball shoes so it could go either way. I'm using skateboarding shoes right now and they seem to be ok, though my feet probably aren't as flat as yours (I have a "small" arch).

I have the worst flat feet of anyone I have ever met and I am going ot have to agree with Jay. I have the high top version of these (or at least something really similar). I have always used either Nike or Adidas basketball shoes although I hear that skate shoes are really good for walking events too.
Edit... I have a size 15 in these shoes.

Thanks Jay. I too have flat feet and will definitely try those next. I wish I did not spend $150 Saucony shoes that claimed to be design for feet with low arch. It is like wearing a pair of wooden clogs...:(

I feel your pain. Sometimes I have to go up to a 17 in some shoes.

I have flat feet as well. I'm sure those shoes kick butt considering Jay and Travis are already using them. But if you don’t find those to your liking, look for motion control shoes. You may need to go to an running store to really find what you need.
I have a pair of Brooks Beast and Asiscs GEL-Foundation 8. Both great shoes and really help keep the ankle/foot from rolling in.
Then again my feet are so bad I have custom orthotics that I must wear to keep my MCL's from getting fried.

I used to have 855, 856 New Balance shoes, designed for severe over-pronation.
Those were fantastic shoes for me. But then, they did something to the new 857 New Balance Shoes and it felt really weird/unsupported when I tried it.
If basketball shoes do not work, I guess I have to shell out $300 for custom orthotics (or get health insurance). I wish the running store up here had more selections....

same here man, www.oddballshoe.com is a pretty good source for decent footwear although alot of their stock is just meant to be "showy" type stuff. I find New Balance to be good for people with big feet.

I agree; I've used a pair of brown leather flat-sole Brooks walking shoes for events for years. Whenever they wear out, I go out and buy another pair of the same thing. Flat sole motion control shoes are hands down the best.

Thanks for the link.
The first time Phil Pfister met me he said "Wow Clint, with feet like those you belong on a circus or something". Coming from him...lol
I love New Balance. My Dad always wore them and when my feet kept growing he got me into them. There is ONE store here that quite often ends up with some odd ball shoes that fit nobody here (obviously) except me. I've picked up a pair of Nike and a pair of Adidas. My feet are pretty narrow and I need a lot of arch support if I can, and sometimes Adidas feel great on my feet and at times their size 15-15.5's have actually fit me. Could be UK 15's though...which is a US 16.

Strongman all have flat feet

I owned more shoes for strongman alone than I ever had for everything else combined. In fact I would go so far as to say strongman may be the most shoe-specific sport in existence!
My all around most used were converse all stars

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I picked up some air flights and so far I love them. I've only done some light carrying work but they seem to work better than my samba's did. Hoping to really test them this weekend

Really Clint?? You're only like 5'10"! :EB:
You'd be 6'4" if you didn't have so much turned over for feet.

Seriously. I have cleats, Oly lift shoes, All-Stars, shoes for walking events (though I have yet to find something that feels truly comfortable. I prefer my all stars if walking on pavement, but have other shoes for grass/gravel), and I still feel like rock climbing shoes are in my near future as an addition. Oh, and my Vibram 5-fingers for deadlift events

BTW, not only do I have flat feet but I have WIDE feet. So much so that ducks with unusually wide feet are referred to as "Cook footed" :o
