hey guys,

Quick question for those of you with experience making stones. I made my first stone with a slater's stone and it is slippery as hell. The powder coming out of the stone makes it almost impossible to grip. Is there some type of sealant I can put on top of this to help with this problem? Or do I just need to man up?

Thanks,
Dan

that will wear off over time. Let it cure some more by being out in the enviroment for 1-2weeks then hit it with some turpentine and rinse it off, It will lose the powder slip after awhile.

If ya dont care just keep using it till it wears off

Grow a set and start sweating tacky.

I tend to wipe mine down with a wet cloth from time to time. Not on days when I'm using the stone necessarily, but if I think about it. The dust does settle after a while, but none of mine are completely dust free or sealed. I've considered playing around with the plasti-dip + sand trick that I've read about on here. I never use tacky on my own stones. They are all light enough I don't need it. The bigger stones we have at the warehouse and I use tacky there. Heck, even if didn't want to use tacky they are so covered at this point you don't have much choice.

Thanks a lot guys. I tried using tacky but its been so cold that it gives no help at all. I'm going to just keep trying it out and maybe try that turpentine trick

I gave my a good rinsing off with a hose and just started using them. A couple of weeks later they were fine.

Well when I say them, I mean it, as my 400 ish lbs stone appears to be stuck to the floor.

I can't figure it out. It rolls across the floor fine but when I comes to lifting it, the only thing I end up doing is compressing the soles of my shoes!

Any ideas?

I have a 400lb stone and have the same problem except I know my solution. Get stronger!

Cold weather tacky works ok if you thaw it out, I can't remember if it was Jack Tack or Ostlund cool weather but one worked pretty well thawn out and one worked ok and then froze on me rofl.
