Did any of you watch it?If so,I would like to hear your thoughts on a few things.
Do you like the gritty look and feel of movies like the Texas chainsaw massacre(remake),The Hills Have eyes(remake),Rob Zombie's Halloween, and The Devil's Rejects or do you like the polished look of movies like Prom Night?
Do you think that having overly good looking actors makes a movie feel more unrealistic?
Do you enjoy the campy aspects of alot of horror movies,or would you rather see a horror movie that seems more realistic, and horrifying?
Do sex scenes offend you?
I was pretty excited about the Friday the 13th remake, and wont say I hated it,but just think it was o.k.I think that the guy that played Jason did a great job.I thought that alot of the actors were almost too good looking. They looked like they jumped out of an American Eagle photo shoot.Sex scenes dont offend me,but they sometimes get old,and I think they could be tastefully done.I thought that the look of the movie was almost too glossy, which kind of kills the scray feel of the movie for me.
I liked the texas chainsaw massacre remake alot because it had good actors who seemed realistic. There was cursing and I guess sexual content(making out),but it wasnt over done(like the Rob Zombie movies seem to be).I guess I kind of expected that out of Friday the 13th,but it seems like they threw some of the campy stuff in,just because its a friday the 13th movie.

I thought it was really well done. I enjoyed it. I own mostly horror movies and this one met my expectations.

Haven't seen Friday the 13th yet, But I loved Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. I thought House of a Thousand Corpses was better than Devils Rejects, but liked both. I'm looking forward to seeing Friday the 13th.

I'll be honest, a lot of the classic horror flick and b-reel slasher films were where I first saw boobies as a kid :D. But many of the newer horror films just suck. It's the typical 'boo, I jump out with a big knife and kill you'. They rely more on suprise and/or excessive gore.
The Saw films are horrible for that. They aren't scary, just initially it had some shock value. Then the brains everywhere gets old and, to be honest, it was stomach turningly excessive. I'm more of a fan of zombie movies and psychological thriller peices where the people are legitimatley twisted instead of the childish slasher/serial-killer bad guy.

Over 50% of my movies are zombie flicks, most other horror movies don't have any kind of draw to them and usually have nothing below the surface.

And if it has Ving Motherf***'n Rhames in it, you know it's good. It's required by law to always adress him with the extra word in there because he's such a badass.

I don't do horror movies for the most part. I have just neer liked them.
I will say, however, that I think one of the best thriller-type movies is Silence Of The Lambs. So well-acted and well-written, and has the most gruesome scenes, like when Anthony Hopkins is beating the cops to death with that calm look on his face...creepy.

I definitely agree with ryan on this one. The crazy immortal killers get old. As for the saw movies they should of just left it at saw 1.

If you're looking for a great time, want to shut your brain off, and understand its a "B" Slasher, then it's an awesome movie and pulls it off good.
But I defiantly like zombie movies and those sorts more. Although "I Am Legend" got kinda iffy towards the end, it was great because it really messed with your mind that you are all alone in this world.
Also, what makes horror movies "more scary" in my opinion is when they don't show the monster/beast/ghost/oogaly googaly. Your imagination is the scariest thing and that is what I Am Legend played off on a bit.
Just my $.02.

I haven't seen Friday The 13th, but I am a horror movie fan and I personally prefer the gritty type. I am a huge fan of Rob Zombie's work and I loved House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. I also liked his version of Halloween.
I think an overly good-looking cast is a bit unrealistic, so I prefer the majority cast to look like most people do for the most part.
Sex scenes don't offend me, but I think they can sometimes be unecessary, poorly done, or overdone. I don't like them just for the sake of having a sex scene and luring people in with one . . . I can watch porn if that's what I'm in the mood for, lol. But, I am not a hyper-sensitive, easily offended person, so if a sex scene adds something to the movie, then that's fine by me. However, I have countless other options to exercise if I just want to see breasts, so just jamming a scene into a movie for no reason kind of annoys me. I know I said I liked the Rob Zombie movies and obviously there is sexual content, lol, but I think he does it artistically and I think it adds something to his movies given his style.

I haven't seen it, and I'm still undecided on this particular remake. I also dig Rob Zombie's movies and don't like most "horror" that comes out these days, as it's either bubble gum targeted at high school kids (Scream, etc.), or torture porn (Hostel, Saw, etc.)...neither having any real plot or character development. That said, I'm totally fine with camp if the movie doesn't take itself too seriously...see "Shaun of the Dead"...though that's more satire than camp.
One of my semi-recent favorites was "30 Days of Night". I thought they did an excellent job of conveying the complete hopelessness of that situation and used gore without being over the top. I thought "I am Legend" was good, but since I read the short story it was adapted from I thought they fawked up the ending by wrapping things up in a nice, neat, feel-good Hollywood bow.
What am I excited about now? Dead Snow (http://www.deadsnow.com/).

Thank you for all of your replies!!I noticed that Michael Bay(Transformers) was the producer of the movie, and I think that is probably what pushed all of the good looking actors, and glossy look and feel to the movie. All of my friends are ugly,so maybe its just me that cant relate to a bunch pf pretty, preppy kids lol.
Brandon,I agree about the TCM.Jessica Biel is smokin hot,and to me seems more realistic in the movie. She has more of a naturally hot look,as opposed to a chick covered in 15lbs of make up,that seems very fake. Also,Andrew Bryniarski(lattimer)is a bad @$$ on and off the screen!!!Hes going to be at a horror movie convention around here next month.I cannot wait to meet him.
