Thought I'd write this up here so more people see it. Just a heads up that there is a massive comp happening on the Gold Coast of Australia, 3,4,5 Dec 2009. It's part of a huge fitness festival, sounds like Australia's version of the Arnold Festival. There is a big strongman show being put on, with Z, Lbstone, Misha, Travis, Terry etc all confirmed.

175kg x 2 (385lb) Farmers walk over 25 metres (82ft) for time
Slaters Monster 98kg (216lbs) Dumbbell press - for max reps

Here are confirmed competitors as of this week, the goal seemed to be to have about 16 in the show, with at least 10 Internationals. Derek Boyer has been publicly invited, waiting to hear if he is in. There is an extra $1000 US bonus for the top finishing Australian or NZ'er.

That's one hell of a contest. Great cast too. Have you ever competed in anything of this magnitude before?

No man, not even close. No one from Aussie or NZ, with the exception of maybe Brant and Boyer if he comes, have done anything like this. I've competed in a decent Highland games, but not strongman. Nick and I are going over to do the pro show at Sydney's SM, which has 365 farmers and some other decent events, but it's nothing of this sort. IMO this contest could be shaping up to be the 4th memeber ot the Arnolds-WSM-Fortissimus trifecta.
When else does one have Z, Lbstone, Misha etc all together?

Geez way to steal my post jon! I was gonna type this up sometime this week. But no, u had to come running in before me and ruin it, and to make it worse ur not even australian!
i'd just like to point out to everyone that if it wasn't for me Jono would not be competing in this contest. I talked him up alot to the promoter to get him an invite, so he better come through for me! Just one more time... if it wasn't for me he would not be competing.
:p
we're also in talks with Ryan Kennelly about getting him over for a possible shot at breaking the RAW bench record. But thats not confirmed yet...

It would be cool if we could get Travis or Derek's thought on this comp and what they think of the heavy events....

Yeah thanks guys. I appreciate the support. And I know it's surprising that a 21yr old without much pedigree gets an invite to this show...but yeah.. let's hear what the big names think!
Though they're probably all thinking about Mohegan, WSM and Fortissimus at this point. Hollands says he's really looking forward to this show.

It's for Big Z if he wants it. Same with the 485 6th stone, sort of a challenge stone.
Thanks Phil.
