I have seen some stuff in the little time that I've been lifting weights, but this I don't know whether to take seriously or not...

Oh God  douchbaggery at its finest . 900lb front squat ? on a machine right ? good grief ..... didn't see not one strongman related thing on his pathtic page, not one. wonder if he's done any event training ? good luck to him on that ....

Uh, that's not real dude. Anyone can load up a weight machine and do a few reps. That kid looks like he just finished eating a million doughnuts.

This guys like every other guy in the gym talking about how they used to leg press 2500lbs in high school LOL He's found some machines he can put a crap load of weight on so it looks cool ..... lets see what he can do without his handy machines on a real FS or DL ?? I'm not sayin he's weak but he is no contender for anything strongman related especially Poundstone. Kid needs a reality check :IMHO:

I'm going to agree with everyone and say the guy is a...well...you know what I'm saying. I can load up a machine and look cool too, I think most of us do, not to look cool but because we need to. I like his 140 hammer curl video, used straps and had some good body swings to get the weight up. Also every video, well almost has "Derek Poundstone's next contender?" as part of the title. He does need a reality check and needs to know he's not going to make it to the WSM by just doing those machine lifts.

Whether the guy is serious, or joking, I just had to..

HAHAHA!!!! The front squats were the best - the mechanics of that machine put nearly all of the weight on the two bars "hanging" the weight. It kind of kicks in a little, but I truly hope no one thinks that's a front squat.

LOOKOUT POUNDSTONE!!! YOU TOO ZYDRUNAS!!!

I actually feel embarrassed for the kid watching these videos, and even more so the guy running the video camera who truly believe they are making these legit lifts.

Most male lifters I know have "reverse anorexia" when it comes to image issues (seeing themselves as smaller than they are), but obviously this guy got the reverse where he is so self unaware that he probably sees a superhero in the mirror.

I thought he was just joking around at first, but I honestly think he's serious, and like someone else said, I kind of feel embarrassed for him because he's making a fool of himself on the internet. Nice "900lb deadlift," lol. The guy is suffering from some serious delusions of grandeur for sure, but hey, at least he's exercising, I'll give him that, lol. I guess there are worse ways he could be spending his time.

in the video of him running stairs it says it was filmed in Missouri. If anyone on here lives close by, they should invite him to do some actual strongman events. But make sure you have a camera ready if he actually shows up because im sure it would be a fun video for us to watch.

On a side not, why is it always the guys who use machines who think they are "huge"?

Look if anyone is going to be Poundstone's next contender it will be this kid.

Just give him 26 years to grow and he'll demolish the field and end the world in the same breath.

You know, he might have some respectable strength, but we won't know because he is more concerned about how cool he looks on "bench night" at the local gym. It would be great to get him to train with a good group some saturday just to see how he reacts to getting beat on every event, lol. If someone does get him, PLEASE tape it! (I expect tantrums.)

Some of you guys know about the guy I train with named Iron Mike. He was kind of like this kid when I first started training in Waterbury 11 years ago. There are a few things he's lacking "upstairs" but with proper guidance he's now one of the strongest and toughest guys I know lb for lb. Maybe this kid is the same way! I know he's sent me a few messages on facebook and he really thinks he's an undiscovered talent in the strongman community. I wouldn't mind this kid coming up to CT Strength for a week to see what potential he has and help him put some things in perspective. All in all I'm flattered to be the motivating force behind someone's gym training, no matter how unorthodox it might be.

I have no opinion of this guys training style or his videos or potential, as I do not have access to youtube. However, he is undiscovered in the strongman world simply for one reason. He has made no contact with any of the numerous groups within driving distance for him to train events with, nor has he attended any of the numerous contests also with driving distance (at least to my knowledge). He may be the next Poundstone, I dont know. But it aint going to happen through youtube videos.

I was playing around and made a harmless comment on his 765 machine shrug videoe and he took time out to critique/compare a shrug video that's up on my page as sort of an inside joke and then followed it up with a high and mighty sounding pm about how I have potential etc. I get the impression that he actually believes everything he has on his YouTube. This guy would probably be able to hold his own against a few guys here in a World of Warcraft marathon or a bite sized donut snack off, but a HW strongman competition?

Better man than I! (In a lot of ways, haha.)

I will say though, he does look like he could be strong, but can't compare stuff you do with machines loaded up with plates.

I asked him nicely when he was going to put his money where his mouth is, and he said he'll compete soon and let me know. So that's a good start, certainy his other responses to people appear pretty intense.

(The deadlift might be kinda close.)

We need to throw a contest composed completely of Hammer Strength machines for events. It'll ensure he gets a high placement, since he's had plenty of practice.

Someone call Kim Wood and ask him to develop tire flip, yoke and log press machines for this guy! Oh yeah, a plate-loaded stone loading contraption, too. You've gotta be well-rounded, after all :D

Ian Duggan

I didn't even know there WAS a machine for deadlifting.

I mean seriously; how can somebody look at the deadlift, the act of lifting a weighted bar from the ground, and think "this is too complicated... I need to invent a machine to take the hassle out of this."

Ach...

You know what's much worse: There was a guy on another board that had a guy spot him while he deadlifted. I saw pictures. Unbelievable.

It was more of one of those "spots" where you have a guy pull up on the bar. More like a gym rat's bench-press spot. "All you dude! All you!!!"

I need to find that picture.

I might have that beat. I was asked a while back to spot some guy. Being the nice guy I am, I said sure and followed him to the rack. Little did I know, all he was doing were curls! So there I was. Pinned between this moron and the mirror in the middle of the rack watching him desecrate all that is holy and sacred in the gym. All the while wondering what in the world am I suppose to be doing for this guy (?) as he looked past me at himself in the mirror.

He must have deleted the picture of getting a spot. He's actually a mod on elitefitness that named himself the Beast and "invented the Beast Lift" shown here: (delete please if this violates any rules, but I doubt many guys would be interested since much of the advice seems.....useless?)

He had a guy spotting him on this and regular deadlifts. He rounded his back so terribly doing the "Beast Lift" that he was put in traction for a while and had to wear a hard vest to protect his spine. And he's a mod on the weightlifting part I believe. It's been about 4 or 5 years since I've checked in on him, lol.

One other thing: they seem to think he's a great lifting instructor, etc on that part of the site. AND he also does wrist curls, but I've never seen him request a spotter, but no doubt he has.

Here is the Beast Lift (which he didn't invent, BTW) and his 1/4-rep 400 lb bench (yes, he uses the fractions):

Do you have a framed Asia poster?

Do you like Coldplay?

If yes, the conclusion is different from simply liking Risk and Oasis. This is a relatively minor problem.
