Tennessee Training

I've got a friend looking to get into strongman. He lives in the Murfreesboro, TN area - anybody know of any local groups/gyms?

to my knowledge there's not a ton going on in that area right now. Too bad he didn't want to get into it several years ago. I ran a great group for a good number of years, but we've sort of moved on to other things for a variety of reasons. I don't know of anyone doing strongman training in Middle TN right now. I'm the state chair and know most of the strength guys around this area. If there was a group I'd probably have heard about it, but there could be some new group I don't know about.

yeah that's a long way for training. Basically 4 hrs each way.

I'm in Chattanooga (so is Brad Stanford), but that still aint real close to Murfreesboro.

The Cookeville Fitness Center has a little SM equipment, probably closer then I am.

I do most of my training at work (Chattanooga State), or at home.

Brad goes to the Rush or comes by ChattState occationally for some log work

OK good to know there are other strongmen in the area. My wife and I train at home in Trenton GA which is about 25 min from downtown and she also trains at the Power Pit in East Ridge. I'm sure we'll see you guys around.

What do you Rocky Top fellas know about the "Tennessee Terror" show coming up in October? Any more news on weights/distances for the events than what the NAS entry form has up?

I emailed the promoter a while back, he still doesn't know what the Medley will be, only that it will be "brutal". Unfortunately that doesn't really help folks wanting to train the events. I'll post any info I find out on this thread.

It's a 5 hr. drive for me, and my Auburn Tigers are Playing Kentucky that day, so I might choose tailgating over a mystery strongman contest.

I train at a private facility in Greeneville Tn. I'm actually going up to work out with some of the guys in Knoxville pretty soon, I'll try to get you guys some better information on events for the terror. Got 4th out of 11 people at the Greeneville Strongman today took thick handle steel suitcases for 282 feet, one drop. Hell of a day.
