hey guys, the title is pretty explanatory, I just got some of the elite tacky and it's hard as a rock. How do you guys prepare the tacky for a contest that the weather might be a bit cooler? I know you could warm it up before hand but I would think by the time you got to the contest and to the stones it would be kind of hard again. Any suggestions?

Good question, I've always been curious about it hardening up again before stone time at a comp. I've never used tacky and have no idea about any of that stuff.
It's a good thing you didn't get Dave's "Cool Weather" tacky, I've heard it's a million times more solid than the regular Elite Tacky.

get a candle warmer and set the whole jar on it once you are at the venue, it takes a while and makes it into liquid tacky-good stuff.

i use the dave ostlund stuff too. at comps i'll try to track down a microwave and give it 1-2 minutes (with the lid off of course), or i have in the past used a plastic container full of boiling water at a comp where i couldn't track down a microwave, and sat the tack jar in the water for a while until it softened sufficiently.

The "Cool Weather" stuff is actually much softer and better in cool weather if you don't have a way to soften the Elite. If you can get the Elite warm it is still usually the best because it have amazing "stick".

I usually heat mine up ahead of time and wrap it up in a towel to keep it warm. For extreme cold Hair dryers and paint peelers can be handy, or there is pretty much always a car available, floor heater on full blast works great.
