I presume its Savickas'.
Can anyone find a video of it?
Thanks.

From what Dione told me, it still is Zydrunas with 445. At the Olympia Scott Weech and Van Hatfield both got 440 and just missed getting 450.

Yeah it's Savickas, he did 462lbs (210kg) last year

That's what I thought but couldn't track down the video either. Thanks guys.
Its cool to see a couple American's approaching the record.

Not a good video but one of him doing 457lbs (207.5kg) earlier that year

Schoonie hit 500 in training w/ Ed Coan as a witness.

In competition it's Zydrunas with 456 or 457 as previously posted.
Mind you, I have heard of Brian Schoonveld hitting the 500 intraining.

If he was still active, Jason Krystal (had) a lot more in the tank than the 432lb press he posted in training. Made it look like an absolute joke. Considering he clean and jerked more or less 500lbs when he was olympic weightlifting and still managed to transfer that power into the log press, it's safe to say he'd be going after that WR.

Gym lifts are great, but only ones in competition count. Otherwise at the Arnold (for the fans mind you, not the athletes), they'd be having log presses like the bench with 15lb plates that look like 45's. A lot of Internet warriors would be claiming to log press 500+ (with YOUTUBE videos as proof)

What happened to Jason? Why is he not still active?

Official WR stands at 210 kg ( 462 lbs) by Zydrunas Savickas at the SCL Lithuanian Grand Prix, on Jujy 19, 2008.
It was the 3rd time that year that Z broke his own WR ( 205 kg and 207,5 kg).
At the World Log Lift Championships in November 2008, he barely missed 212,5 kg ( He had already won the competition with 200 kg first attempt).
Unofficially he has a 220-kg lift ( 484 lbs). Not done during a competition.

He has one and has some videos, I think 360ish is the most he's posted.

Hard to even fatham that Schooney or Z could hit right around 500 (even if it is in training...I tend to believe them). But year, comps are different.
500 is a pretty strong DL still IMO if a guy at the gym can do it. These guys are taking the same 500 in an awkward form and deadlift it, muscle it up and probably almost strict press it.
If Z could clean 600, does that mean he could simply push press a BB and beat the WR for the only C&J? Seriously!
(I know it's kind of a dumb question, but that is so unbelievable...plus I'm definitely no natural at the log, so I'm even more in awe than most of the guys on here.)

You're not allowed to press out, so he'd have to do a jerk or a push jerk.
I saw Mischa Kokylaev post a video where he snatched something like 12 lb below the all time record. Insane.

-I'd like to see a Pro strongman contest do a barbell overhead press "anyway"off a rack or off barrells as they did in WSM
one year-(i think the rule was overhead press "anyway"either front split jerk, push press or behind the neck)it would be
great to see what guys like Zydrunas-Poundstone-Misha-Vanhatfield-etc. could push press or power jerk overhead with a barbell-
-here is a link to a video of gary taylor easily behind the neck push pressing(power jerk?) 462lbs--after he's done lifting it he went for the 462lb. barbell throw for distance--really effortless--I've read several article saying he has behind the neck push pressed 595--

I was pretty bummed in 2005 when I went to Holland Gran Prix was told we were going to do max log. We ended up doing max rock press. I set the World record on that instead 136 KG natural stone. It's on youtube if you want to see it. I did train the log hard for that contest. I used multiple stages of training to hit a big lift. Trained for it like a powerlifting meet. Front squats and Triceps are a big key to huge presses. My bodyweight was around 380ish. I wish I had the chance to face off against Big Z. Schoonie

That'd be awesome man. I personally would like to see something like: a weekend for guys who are best at the log press, some type of deadlift, etc... (Sort of like Mendy and Kennelly as bench specialists with the exception that strongmen can't concentrate on one lift like that). Also, it would be cool to see a regular barbell without the clean (I think Mischa would have a bit of an advantage here otherwise!) Or maybe a seated? They had some kind of seated stuff back in the day. Not often, but I've seen it. Of course it'd almost have to be seated and no back support so you wouldn't have to worry about judging as much.
I dunno. It'd be like an exhibition with maybe only 4 or 5 guys considered the best at each event. Z would likely come close to having a full contest, lol.
Man, Schoonie! Never knew you got up to 380, damn!!! And, amazingly enough, my guess is you probably gained mostly lean mass. I still would like to see BF% on Z - I bet it's much less than most would think. His frame alone has to weigh a lot - sort of like Shaq having a big amount of lean mass, but then again he is 7'1". And no doubt you both have some serious delt/tricep development...Tri's look like quads, lol.
How would Vidas Blekaitis do? Seems like he has a monster log press too. I really liked watching him on IFSA. When Z would win, he went freaking crazy, lol. I admired him cause he didn't bitch about being shorter...he just popped up the stones and had to shoulder the first one or two every time. But I also admire taller guys, say 6'4" or more that can make big presses. John Connor and Brian Shaw seem to be OK with being 6'9" or so...
Reminds me, I watched the video posted on one of the threads with Shaw and Z doing the axle. Obviously, Z looked insane and would start pressing with the bar not even racked on his shoulders. He just muscled it all the way and I couldn't see hardly any knee bending. But my main point was that Shaw kept up with him really well despite the fact that Z seems to not be fully human, lol. Shaw has to be a favorite for winning some big contests over the next 10 years AT LEAST!
Alex: Thanks for the info. I thought that was probably the case, but wasn't sure. It still makes it seem amazing though.

You do know Z is 6'3 right...

You do know Z is 6'3 right...
Yeah...he's so dang thick it's hard to put him with other tall guys...he's is anything BUT "lanky," lol. Also, he's got (it seems) normal length arms in relation to height (good proportion). It seems to me that when guys get above a certain height, their arms are actually longer in proportion to their height. So even if they're 6'9", may have a 7'2" reach. Some NBA guys are drastically different.
But then again, Kennelly says he has longer arms and it doesn't look like it - it also seems to not hurt his bench much, lol! When I was younger, I used to complain I have longer arms (I'm 6'4" and armspan is lik 6'6" or so.)
After I gained some good weight after highschool, it didn't seem like it hurt me anymore. So it was probably just an excuse anyway.
I still am amazed watching John Connor (who I think said he had pretty long arms relative to his height). Man, he's gotta put a bar/log probably 8.5 feet up! And, if you've ever watched him, his lockout is awesome. Awesome DLer too.
http://www.youtube.com/user/strongmanjohn?feature=chclk#play/all/uploads-all/1/bg3odlAu-JY
On the other side, Vidas doesn't seem to be hurt too much by being a shorter guy (he's a freakin' bull!)
BASICALLY, I used to think it was a huge deal and would really hurt pressing to be taller, but getting bigger help leverages and obviously the most important thing is simple: getting stronger. (The leverages seem to come into play more in PLing, especially since it's the three same lifts every time.)
Just looking at Shaw with no reference, he might seem 6'2" and 300, but stand him next to me, and I'd look like a 14 y.o.!!!! Takes a ton of meat to fill out that frame, and he more than has.
(This is another example of the irony comparing these guys (but to be a fan, you have to). Anyone under Z's height is called out as "short" and anyone under 300 is small!! And we aren't talking about a 300 lber in Wal-Mart, lol.)
Mac, I guess I could have just answered "YES"! LOL

John Conner actually I believe will almost hit the ceiling if they 10' with a 12" log. I have seen him press and I know my garage has 9' ceilings and he would knock the rafters hard if he was there.

I understand your point Justin. I'm 6'4 as well but I have a 7'1 wingspan!!! It totally sucks when it comes to pressing, but I just use it as an excuse for my laziness!! LOL!!!

Whoa! That is a big difference. It's awesome for some things but not for pressing...but like you said, it can be overcome. I think I read a long time ago that Bob Sapp has really long arms (at around 6'4" I think it was over 7' about like you) but he could bench 600+. I think I've seen a clip of him doing 600+ with good form too.
I was same height in HS and weighed around 180 - I complained about my arms being long all the time! Once I put on 100lbs, I kinda stopped and I was just doing regular gym lifts and had a pretty good bench....so I thought it'd translate to the log when my buddy invited me over to train, LOL. WRONG! (At least for me.) I only got like 220lbs and found myself complaining about long arms again, haha.
Still suck relative to my weight and to what a lot of guys here can get on the log. Always lose it to the front, but need someone to diagnose why....but anyway.
I saw not too long ago a dude that was maybe 220 (someone posted the clip) hitting a log press of 370 or so! Pretty awesome. There are also guys that can DL some crazy numbers at not much over 200, but since IMO mine is decent, no excuses result.
Nobody outside of this sport would ever guess how much goes into the mental side of it... They just discount everyone as meatheads or whatever, and it seems like most everyone on here is pretty smart.
(Damn, caught myself rambling again.):p

Man, I'm betting you could add the 35lbs to get 400 then! Seems like when I've watched your clips, you have no problem with the lockout....so maybe a bit of legdrive would do the trick.
Mischa has some perfect form that he had no problem applying to the log....I believe I've seen him hit over 400 on it (correct me if I'm wrong). That dude is explosive as hell and his brute strength was always good and is getting better. I wish he wasn't hurt for WSM this year.
I found this impressive, mainly because I thought he would have had to do a full-blown jerk...but here he's getting some brute strength lockouts with 200kg for 3.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXXszjlqxhI&feature=PlayList&p=7F8AAEA93589861E&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=49
(And I didn't now he did much PLing, but I guess he's gotten 530lbs on bench, close to 800 on squat and around 900 on DL.....all raw numbers. And my guess is he probably didn't bench much until he was done with oly lifting.)
