Um, don't know what to say really, so I won't bore you with my life story.

I've been lifting for a year this week. Not consistently, sadly, due to life circumstances, and I'm currently ill and have been for over a month. Initially I had the body of a heroine addict, but a litre of full fat milk a day and plenty of fried chicken sorted that out and by 1st Jan this year I was just over 200lbs (I'm 6'3.5" by the way, so I looked normal at that weight; not skinny but at the same time people wouldn't have thought I lifted) and squatting and deadlifting over 300lbs.

From then until July this year I was too OCD about diet (I was worried that I was getting a little fat, lol) and as such made either no or very little mass gains. In fact in July I was down to 195lbs but I was stronger: I did 351lbs x 20 reps on the rack deadlift from a bit below my knees and box squatted 370lbs from a bit below parallel. And then I couldn't lift for a few weeks because I had nowhere to lift at, and then when I did get somewhere to lift at (moved locations) I got sick, and still am as I write this.

That's pretty much it. I've always done routines focused on the big lifts, although finding something that worked for my pressing has so far been unsuccessful (I haven't mentioned my pressing numbers because they're not worth mentioning).

Immediate goal is to get back to where I was. I am currently down to ~180lbs so I want to hit 200lbs lean pretty soon. Gotta get the weights back up as well. Last time I squatted I did 308lbs for two sets of five, wasn't that difficult but wanted to take it easy since I hadn't squatted for four weeks or something. Want to get back to that before December.

Also gotta get back into deadlifting. Hardly deadlifted since April. The summer I was trying some Westside stuff to get my numbers up but unfortunately it didn't do anything to my deadlift. 1-3 sets of five is what worked a treat before and as such that's what I'll continue to do until it stops working. Oh, and I also want to get two plates each side above my head sometime. I'll set a date for all my goals once I get back into it so I can see, roughly, how long it might take me to get them.

I do eventually want to start training for strongman stuff but initially I want to get my numbers up. The gym I go to has stones, a log, and some other stuff which I will be using sometimes, but not as the main focus.

Anyway, enough about me. I'll post up my journal here as well soon enough. Excellent site, great to be here. See quite a few names I recognise. Some from the TV and others from places like Elitefts. Sure are a lot of strong folks here!

welcome :D your lucky, you have a better gym than i have at the moment haha. But, i must say weightlifting burns quite the calories and has many health benefits. so lift more = more calories burned = eat more :D
