I know it isn't strongman related but I thought I would share. Not trying to start a religion war or anything!

George HW Bush once said that he thought atheists shouldn't be considered citizens.

not sure what a former president has to do with anything...... but yea, companies are resorting to doing this because hipsters hate the government, yet at the same time, want MORE government.

remember those people that sued their school because of that very phrase being in the "pledge of allegiance"?

i wonder why home depot hasnt refused to take cash

Obviously you can see the Home Depot Corporate's responsibility in having to seperate themselves from any religious affiliation, or fear losing a number of customers. However as the article says and as everyone knows, is the country we all (supposedly) have the freedom to believe in what we want and express ourselves. Now I understand the limitations in business as far as keeping your personal ideologies out of the day to day sales. But quiet reading of the Bible on lunch breaks, is no different than reading the Davinci Code, and everyone was reading that book when it came out.

On a personal level I support his cause, his beliefs, and his opinion that he should be able to wear a bit of his personal expression on his work shirt. But no doubt, this will end up with some ridiculous lawsuit, that will be settled out of court, and the entire story will lose it's meaning.

I agree that it will probably be some ridiculous lawsuit that will clog up our courts some more. But I have to say, Home Depot is a privately owned business who have established a uniform and employee handbook that spells out what is and isn't allowed. And if you don't agree with it, then you are free to not work there. What if a police officer decided he wanted to express himself and put a "Kiss me I'm Irish" pin on his uniform everyday? His superiors would tell him it's not part of the approved uniform and he better remove it. I know, Home Depot and police officer are not the same thing, but...

Now, yes it is odd that they let him wear it for a year before asking him to remove it. But in the article he focuses in on that he was wearing it because he loves his country and wants to show his support. But he wouldn't wear a Home Depot provided "United We Stand" button? He also never said he was asked to stop reading the bible on his lunch breaks. There is a big difference between a business not allowing someone to practice required parts of their respective faiths such as a Jewish man wearing a yamaka or a muslim woman wearing a hijab and not allowing someone to wear a button or t-shirt with a slogan expressing their beliefs.

I personnally don't have a problem with him wearing the button as a customer, but I can see Home Depot's side that if they allow one person to break the dress code then everyone will point to him when they decide to wear a political button or any number of other things. When you are hired and sign on the dotted line, you agree to company policies. If you don't agree with them and can't live with them, then you either have to have them changed or face the consequences.

Home Depot is a freaking joke. In last years Christmas advertisements they wouldnt advertise Christmas Trees as Christmas Trees, they were instead changed to "holiday trees" in all of their advertisements. WHAT OTHER HOLIDAY DO YOU PUT A FREAKING PINE TREE IN YOUR HOUSE AND DECORATE IT HELLOOOO??? Ever since then i will not shop there. It is obvious the owner of home depot is an athiest of some sort.

I AM SO SICK OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, WHY CANT WE JUST SAY IT HOW IT IS!??!?!???:mad::mad::mad:
