I found this site awhile back while searching for a WSM name. he was in the 2005 and in the log press, where its on a piviot and you press it overhead (jesse won the event ) this dude knocked out alot of reps, stopped, danced a jig, and then continued on. Jesse lifted next i think and beat him. who was the guy that danced the jig? young guy, very short hair. strong! this was in the qualifiying.
Also, wher can i purchase dvds of WSM or Strongman events?
Thanks, Matt

I think know the guy you mean. Icelandic, powerlifter, broke a few world records (squat I think?) just before the WSM finals and missed out on qualifying by half a point? Kinda short, very thick guy.

Damned if I can remember his name though.

Audunn Johannson? His name is actually pronounced like "Odin", which automatically makes him much cooler than anyone here, except for me.

That is a perfect name for a strongman.

That doesn't sound quite right though. I watched his heat last night on TV at about 4am thourgh a flu enduced fever... I want to say Haraldsson? Probably got the spelling wrong...

I have them all saved on my DVR, and I just scanned though them to find this guy.

The guy who did the "Icelandic Jig" on the Viking Press was Boris Harolddson, and he was not in Jesse's qualifying group. The guy that beat Boris on this event was Ralf Beir.

Audunn Johannson? Do you mean Anders Johannson, who competed in the 2003 Superseries? By the way, i have those on DVD. My girlfriend got it for me for Christmas from Ironmind. Not sure if they have any WSM though.

P.S. Paul, if you can put those onto DVD or VHS, I'll pay you whatever your time is worth to do that.

Few people know this but 'Dan' is actually pronounced like 'Thor'.

Sorry...I haven't had a VCR since I moved into this house, and my DVR doesn't record onto DVD.

If you have cable or sattelite, I think it's only an extra $6 per month for the DVR. Trust me, it's worth every penny and then some.

That's the fellow. Darned unlucky not to get through. Came 3rd in the truck pull by 0.01 seconds, and then missed out at the end by half a point despite beating the Russian, who finished 2nd overall, in the Stones. T'was a good heat that.

Although it would have been closer if Mark Philippi hadn't injured his quads in the squat. He looked like he was just getting warmed up.

Audunn ("Odin") is an incredibly strong Icelandic powerlifter. Not as big a DL as Benni, but a bigger total I think. Can toss a caber like it's a toothpick!
Very cool guy too - when I competed in Iceland he took me around and showd me Jon-Pall's old gym and favorite chinese restaurant. Serious abuse to the all-you-can-eat buffet.

Do you know anything about Haraldson as a powerlifter? The UK coverage of the WSM kept refering to the fact he'd broken several world records "with his legs" but gave no specifics. I can't find any mention of it on the web either.

Actually, all-in-all, the coverage that powerlifting and WSM gets on-line is pretty poor. I couldn't even find a complete set of results from the 2005 WSM. Shocking...
