Don't take that personally Paul, if he can make a little money off that to help him out, then all the power to him. It's no different than selling T-shirts of 8x10's on a website. It funds their careers and helps keep them on the map.

Yeah, I know. But, at the big events, everyone else is willing to take pictures with people except Lou. Lou is the only one who wants $20 to take a picture with him...like he's God's gift to bodybuilding, and everyone else lets you take their picture for free because they're pee-ons.
Besides, you have to admit, it was funny! :M:

and he's the only one making bank off it too... maybe the others should wise up and follow suit? haha

I gotta side with Paul on this one. Ferrigno is an Ass. I have seen him in person on many occasions and he is always the same. He charges little kids and old ladies for autographs.
So on a positive note, he is consistant.
Kaz was at a function that Ferrigno was at autographing posters for free and taking all the pics you wanted. I talked to hime for an hour at one event.
Ferrigno doesn't need the money that bad. Without a fanbase he would be nothing... and his fanbase is dwindling...

wow.. you went and did it.. you said the name!!! LOU
Jesse.. I beg you ..I know you were joking but ( and I know you know this) please recognize that in this sport the main product you sell is you so your reputation means everything.. You are an exception in the world in that you are so good in the sport AND in PR that promoters would book you just to work the crowd even if you were injured/couldn't compete etc..your marketability and fan base are high and will stay high because you treat them all with respect..
I have been involved in the ironsports for 20 years and was into bodybuilding with a passion .. by my last count I have been to almost 60 bodybuilding shows a dozen powerlifting meets and another dozen strongman contests..I have seen every top ranked IFBB pro and amatuer in the 90's as well as a few elite Pl'ers and strongman and with out a doubt the biggest ASSH**E was Lou.. if it was close i'd mention second place.. I attended a show in Vancouver in the mid 90's with a friend, Rob, who's hero was Lou.. My freind had a bit of a tough go.. 6'5" skinny .. broken home .. on his own since 13..not a lot of confidence.. He was sooo excited a chace to meet his idol...We got to the show an hour before pre-judging and a friend I knew let us into the lobby .... Lou was sitting at his table getting stuff out.. there was me and Rob and Lou ..no one else in a 5,000 sq ft lobby..Rob goes up to him and says you are my idol, every time i got frustrated i thought of what you could overcome etc.. Can I get a picture?? and Lou's response was " No.. My Weider contract doesn't allow me to stand up for pictures?" I turned away shocked and then heard him mumble something to the effect of "what?? you don't have 10.00"
I turned around and told him to go F**K himself ( i wonder if his Weider contract allowed him to get up and chase us??) he didn't make his 10 bucks off us and I have told this story for 10 years now!! so Lou can go pound sand!!
that's it..I want 20.00 for my opinion!

In his defense, Jamie, how would you act if you went all these years without getting to eat your cake and playing second fiddle to Arnold?
If you want Lou's autograph then let him write you a ticket. Problem solved now.

you can Photoshop Lou pounding sand....
I had a similar experiance as Jamie... One of my good friends approached Lou and he said $10 for a pic.... My friend said.."it's my camera and film..." Lou said in his typical ridiculous voice..."$10"
Lou then said if you don't wanna pay then get out of the way... I saw 6 people just leave the area.
I was beside myself and actually took the time to tell him to self procreate... and how to do it.
I threw $5 on th etable and said, " here if you need the money that bad...here ya go keep your F'ing picture. Lou's wife Came unglued! We were escorted by security away from the area.
When he is on the King of Queens... i turn the channel.

He was second fiddle to Arnold, all the more reason to appreciate the fans he has, not alienate them and try to make a cheap buck off them. I am far from a utilitarian, but it seriously upsets me when people act like they are a god, especially when they contibute very little to society. (Ooooh, he lifted weights and was painted green in a crappy TV show, whoopty doo!!) Ironic and disturbing. He should be thankful that anybody would care to have their picture taken with him.

Man, Lou couldn't find another way to sell his soul without crapping on his fans??
I know he wants to make some money, nothing wrong with that. Go write a book or make some instructional videos; but you are gonna charge people to have the privledge of having a memory made? That is low.

i agree, ive heard many bad things about 'big lou' - i wouldn't ask for any money for any autographs or pictures even if somebody crowned me king of the world - look at randy couture in his last fight against chuck, stops for a picture with any fan that asked along the entire isle, completely free of charge, smiling everytime - thats how a sportsmen should be

Aye, that's the thing to remember. Guys like Jesse, Josh, Travis, etc etc freely posting here and interacting with common folk such as myself makes me all the more appreciative a fan of their tremendous efforts, and very likely to be supportive over the long haul i.e. interested in books, DVD's etc [BIG hint here to you guys, why is it that the Swedes and Norwegians have DVD's out but you guys do not? hehehe MAKE US A FEW PLEASE, WE WOULD BUY THEM :D ].
Please guys, do not ever think to change this about yourselves, you are great strength athletes AND even greater real people :D

Yes we would.
For big Lou though, all I hear is that sad, walking away music from the end of the Incredible Hulk TV show....................

that was exactly how i felt. i wasn't impessed, to say the least. I'll have to consider just taking a bunch of pictures of him at the Arnold. If I get thrown out, it will take more than Lou to do it.
P.S. i would buy the DVD's too.

I am not even going to waste my freaking memory card on him.
FYI: How many people from this board are going to Arnold's (besides Jesse and Callie). It would be nice to maybe have a night out somewhere so that many of us can finally meet face-to-face.

Hey, the guy's just tryin to fill out the pension fund...it's the people who pay who suck!
He should like charge $10 for each picture but put half into a charity fund...:-)
Jay O'Neill

His pension fund must cover Growth hormone therapy... because at the time he was bigger the he has ever been. And to demand 10 bucks to get a picture with my camera is just wrong... i don't mind paying for a glossy that is autographed... i expect to pay for it.
