At my College we have binders where we log our workouts which were designed for us by our strength coach. For today all it said was, "A Fun Surprise!" Of course everyone wanted to know what that meant but nobody really knew.
When We arrived today we found out, 30 sets of 2 on power cleans in 30 minutes at 75% 1rm.

It was a pretty crazy workout. The biggest thing I for me was my grip. This workout really pointed out a weakness for me in grip endurance. Anyways, anybody ever do anything crazy like this?

I haven't ever done nything like that, but I had not to long ago identified my grip was a weakness of mine. Try the Captain's of Crush grippers they'll do wonders for anyone

I have done 30/30 deadlifts, which are 10 sets of 3 at 75% in 30 minutes. The last 3 sets feel like you are working at 125%. Really good, in my opinion.

Well I knew my grip wasn't a strength, but I was surprised. Maybe it had something to do with me tearing of my last three calouses on my left hand at set number 23.
But I have the CC grippers. I can get 4 reps with the number two. So I've been addresing it, but was surprised I guess that was went first because the weight was 262.5 for all sets so I thought my gripping strength really wouldn't come into play.

Last summer when the coach thought I quit a lift that I shouldn't have he made me flip the tire 300 times. That was fun.

ya we do stuff like that all the time. I onces power snatched 286 for 50 singles.

you need to learn to hook grip. grip will no longer be an issue...

You'll get used to the hook grip in about a month or so. Just keep working it and it gets to feel very comfortable.

Those 30x2 power cleans sound awesome. Good idea.

I actually was hook gripping...lol. I think it must have been more of a problem with the calous tearing and I simply didn't realize it then. Although even with the hook grip, I still think my grip could be quite a bit more solid. I've been using the hook grip exclusively since November and the thumb pain is no longer an issue. But I still feel like my grip is just not as tight as it needs to be. I based my grip on the article by Askeem on the articles page too so I think I'm doing it right.

One of those times when you just say, stop talking about it and grow stronger I think.

I just want to add in that the hook-grip is absolutely necessary to take your olympic lifts as far as you can. It is ridiculous the first time you try it, and it will almost feel like you 'did it wrong'.....but stay with it and you adjust.....worst case scenario, you have to put some athletic tape around your thumbs during training.
