hogan in the late 70's early 80's could have easily won world's strongest man, lou ferigno made it to the finals against bruce whileim, and hulk is nearly an entire frame larger than lou with, at the time, the largest arms in the world, and a 700 lb. bench press, i think it would have been fitting to see a guy nicknamed the hulk win the whole thing, that goes for ferigno too
I don't know if this is true, though.....

...and working at Venice Gold's as a weight pickerupper. I used to watch him train whenever he was in town and I never saw him bench more than 315x5 and it didn't look like he had much more in him. I also never saw hime squat more than 315 for 8-10 either. The one thing I do remember that made an impression is that he used to leave his weights all over the place which made my job a little harder.

6'8, 325lbs, with 26in arms is big enough to be very strong an i wouldn't say he couldn't bench 700 suited in his prime by the look of him, but who cares, he was never a strongman, didnt happen, end of that

Speaking of Hulk Hogan and look alikes, who else loves that chicken sandwich commercial with the skinny Hulk Hogan? I think it rocks.

Hogan is THE man. I very much doubt he had a 700lb bench press at that height with those long arms. He must have been pretty strong though to throw all those other wrestlers around and the punishment their bodies take is impressive.

Don't forget that the Billy "Superstar" Graham competed once! Has anyone seen the fottage of Franco Columbo snapping his leg during a refrigerator carry? It was a freaking nightmare!! I think this proves that the WSM competition weeds out the wannabes, you gotta be a bull if you want to succeed in this sport. Hulk Hogan should be glad he stayed in the entertainment business!

Dude, he was never more then 6'4" in his prime. Wrestlers Exaggerate their heights, incase if you didn't know.

I remember him claimed at 6'7. I totally thought he could not have been over 6'5. 26 inch arms? You gotta be kidding me.

i dont make up heights that i dont know are true, he was billed at 6'8 in his prime, thats that as far as im concerned, doesn't really matter
im not gonna say he didnt have 26in arms at his biggest - i remember i seen a clip where they gave all his stats an the 26in arms stood out - in his book he talked about them calling him the hulk because he was bigger than the hulk / his arms were his biggest thing - he was 325lbs at that time, then at 303lbs his arms were billed at 24in - seems to make sense

He lives in my area and he's definitely over 6'6''...my arms are 20'' and make mine look like noodles, so I'm a believer in that aspect too...but 700lb bench press is pushing it. He's a glorified bodybuilder and we all know bodybuilders don't give a crap ass about 1RM.

doesn't he live right around the St.Pete/Tampa area. Can't remember the town name? I go with my family to St.Pete every summer for vacation and it's coming up real soon! can't wait!

Did Ken Patera ever compete at WSM? I know he was a hell of a powerlifter.

What's with the chest hair shaved in a peculiar way? :FF: Oh yeah and I remember Hulk talking up his 24" pythons all the time. I think his arms might have been that big.
Hey hulk's daughter is 6' and he usually looks to be 2 or 3 inches taller then her on his TV show. I haven't seen him taking a lot of vitamins on the show though.
Hey can we petition the WSM to see if they can get a bodyslam even in the contest! I'd like to see Jesse or Mariusz bodyslam the Big Show like the Hulkster did to Andre the giant!!!

I've met him on several occasions. 6'8... no way!!! 6'5, yeah! The 24" guns are true as well. Hulk is/was strong as hell, but 700lbs is definately pushing it. But because of his frame, I think he could have done really well in WSM. But of course, it all comes down to money. Hulk is a multi-millionaire many times over because of wrestling. There is no strongman even close to making the kinda money that Hulk made/makes. And the man has done it for almost 30yrs. So that should quiet the critics that Mariusz is making 100k a month (which translate into 1.2mil a year).

Slight correction. Patera was an Olympic lifter, not a powerlifter. He was the first American to clean and jerk 500 lbs and press 500 lbs.
He came in third in the first WSM way back in 1977.

Yeah that's right. I want to live in St.Pete Beach. I love it there. I may apply to a police department down there for kicks and see what happens. I always lift at Body Dynamics in South Pasadena, but they keep raising their prices so I'm not sure if I'll be lifting there this year or not.

well, since the best raw bench ever is Mendleson's 713 and bench shirts we not really around back in Hulk's prime, I really doubt he benched 7-- anything raw or anything close to it.

I think the chest hair was supposed to be in the shape of a T...at the time he was wrestling as Terry Boulder with Ed Leslie (later Brutus Beefcake) billed as his brother Ed Boulder.
What we need is someone to post a pic with Hogan next to them, the same way Pudzianowski's height has been studied on this and other forums (making sure each person is wearing normal shoes...:))

I once read that Hulk Hogan was walking through a forest as a youth, and a redwood fell on him and his hiking partners. This was before he trained, keep in mind. He proceded to squat the 10,000+ pound tree for reps while each of his friends escaped. Then he ate the tree.
Another useful fact: Hulk Hogan was born weighing in at 250lbs, 3 ounces, and was 9'0" tall. He shares heritage with Grendel.

There is a better one coming out soon... it was done by a Canadian production company. I saw the trailer for it, and it looks pretty good!

I saw it and it sucked. Low budget, corny, drawn out and no backstory.

I know, I was really disapointed. I followed the website and it's development for some time. The production company said they were in a race with holywood and others to get the story of Beowulf out first. Hopefully a real production crew will put something better together.
