Hi,

I have an intensiv back pain while doing revers hypers.
I have totally no idea where it comes from. But as far as i can remember I`ve always had it...
I didn`t do them for at least, i think, one year now and this morning I thought I try them again.
Immediately when I did the first rep my lower back hurted like hell! But I keept on going for 2 sets 21 rep and 2 sets 12 rep (just the weight of my legs so absolutly not heavy). I was not able to do any other movment after this so I stoped training.
Now its getting better.

By the way I have not bought a Revers Hyper I´m using my Bench that I´m setting up on the right high. But I personally think that this can not be the reason because it`s an very simple movment and I do it absolutly light, right now!

So any ideas? Keep pushing through the pain or stopping?
But I do not really wan`t to stop because I think it`s an great exercise and worth doing it but if I would have any idea where this pain comes from I would be much more confortable...

Maybe flexibility?

Thanks,
Tobi

Is this the only excercise/movement that gives you pain?

I would say yes.
I have no problem with back Squats or stuff like that and I have no pain when I deadlift.
But today I did speed work 4 sets 8 reps and my back hurted so bad that I had to stop (deadlift). I wasn`t able to do Front Rows after the deads...

But I think the reason for this pain today was the revery hyper this morning.

This is really strange...

I have always noticed that with some people here that I train. Either they love the reverse hyper and it really helps them or it just totally kills them like they do to you. If they are hurting from it I just don't make them do them.

We have a saying in Medicine... It if hurts when you do "this"... don't do it.
Also sounds like you are not using a real reverse hyper machine anyway... so I would just stop. Do good mornings and Romanians

dude,

if it hurts, screw it. i know that mike ruggeria (westside lifter, elite shw) didnt do reverse hypers at all, because he said they hurt him.

the RH works wonders for a lot of people, but for some people it doesn't seem to, and it seems to make things worse at times.. you're likely one of those.

Thanks guys.
So I´m going to stop with it.
I´m quit happy that I tested the exerciese again because I planed to build a hyper in about 2 Month so this saved me a lot of money and time.

And now I know that I´m not the only one on this planet who has problems with the hyper -- quite a good feeling :)

So now I´m going to do some stes of Good Mornings in the morning. The only thing I have to do is to warm up a little bit better.

So thanks again,

Tobias

I know that this was posted years ago, but I was searching because of my own similar problem. I had a squat accident last year and severly strained my lower back. Ever since then, Reverse hypers, lying on the floor supermans, raising my upper body with my elbows while lying flat, and sometimes pull ups if I don't keep my knees tucked, severly hurts my back. It seems any movement that causes my legs to go at an awkward angle causes this stabbing pain that leaves my with funny walks and screwed up training for around a week and a half. I have no insurance, and I just wondered if anyone has any clue as to the the hell this could be? It is discouraging a lot of times. At least if I had a clue, I would have some place to start, and I won't base my pain on what anyone says, just deal with it.

Thanks sincerely,
Chris.
